Has Fitzroy recruited quality players to "Smash" Hope Valley? Or was Hope Valley missing players / trying players in different positions / grades?

From what I heard, HV were missing a few, but regardless were comprehensively belted all around the ground..

Very true Phantom. Just saying that either Hope Valley arent going so well. Or are Fitzroy going to push Rosewater / Mawson Lakes for the GF. My thoughts are they may. Especially after a good win like that. But as you and everyone else knows. Its very early in the season and GF's arent played in March.

Yeah Bomber Nelson is playing on again he doesn't look like retiring anytime soon mate. From what i was told Hope Vally had 5 regular A grader's out and we had up to at least 10 walk up A graders not play. The only recruit we had play both trials was Rainer and he goes very well from what i have seen.

we have played x2 trial matches against Hopevally and Glenunga and winning both.

"Smashed them" was what I was told from a neutral spectator..

That neutral supporter obviously "smashed" a few too many red cans. 3 goals is hardly being smashed and after kicking 4 goals to nothing in the first 10 minutes, our blokes were all moved around into different positions. Apart from the ruckmen, the rest of our starting midfielders weren't playing for various reasons. I challenge any side to to play consistently well with your 5 best mids not on the park.

Fitzroy were good and played a rolling zone style very well. It's not unbeatable, just might catch most sides off guard in the first 9 rounds until they work out how to combat it.

Don't really see why you would bring up trial game form from 3 weeks ago. You will only really know how good any side is by about round 9 and they've played everyone once. Fitzroy aren't 2-0 with 4 points after winning two trials...

Do you know him on a personal note? Ive seen Rainer play. He's a good player, one to watch. But a decent tag and he kinda goes missing. Not a big in and under player. Like's to float around the packs. But he can damage a team off his own boot if given too much space. He dominated with Woodville South a few years ago. But then he left. Hope you can secure him on a long term basis. Maybe 2 years service.

The first game has always been a much anticipated game for all clubs. After such a long and hard pre-season of running drills. I always used to fire for the first round and players that have been itching to play dont have to wait any longer. So thats where I meant "Fire Up" mate.
