Unfortunately for him his run has come at the wrong time with no test cricket in a fair while and is probably a fair way down in the selection list including being the 3rd in his own side behind Hughes and Klinger

Nice to see him making good now. If he puts together a couple of strong years I'm sure he'll force his way into the one day side at some point. If he's good enough and lucky enough he'll get a test chance too. But I think ultimately he'll wind up being a talented player who had some good days but kept finding ways to waste form or starts.

Totally agree,

Unfortunatly for Ferg though I think spots in the Aussie test side are slightly limited in the foreseeable future.

Clarke is there until the day he retires. Whether we like it or not Watson being the allrounder is going to bat in the middle order and if its not him test crickets love for allrounders will see the likes of Faulkner, M.Marsh, Henriques replace him. And we all know my love for Smith (and in his current form his going to at least get the next aussie summer without question) which means there is probably only one middle spot available which most likely will be the number 3 spot.

Interestingly who would have been the last specialist batsmen picked in the test side from batting number 5 in their state side. I cant think of too many, even Steven Smith has been batting at number 4 for NSW in the last few seasons.

Redbacks 9/271 Ferg 81*

FFS hopefully we can push 300.. get the growing impression this season may end up like last and we drop out of finals contention at the end of the season :(

Hopefully ferg gets the 100, haven't seen a ball of the innings but to come in when the team is under the pump and get a big score is always a top shelf innings

The death penalty can never be excused as it allows a state a means by which it can pick and choose who is fit to live and who isnt

Gets one that just doesn't bounce and is bowled trying to pull for 97. Hopefully the pitch keeps those sorts of tricks happening. Grrrr

Its 50/50 still. Not their best batting line up without smith, henriques etc

Agree runs on the board and a fairly decent bowling attack, right in this still. Was good to see SOK pick up a well deserved bag though, just wished he didnt do it against us

A relatively low scoring game could be a blessing in disguise for us. Unlike most Adelaide Oval games recently, both sides could be in a position to get the 6 points late day 3 or day. 4.

Richo to get a couple of quick wickets after tea I reckon ;).

Problem is, knowing the Redbacks and recent history, NSW will claim the 6 points and WA will flog QLD, putting the 'backs down to 3rd.

Or worse - QLD knock off WA and NSW pump us, and the gap between 2nd and 4th closes and 'backs in danger of once again finishing closer to the bottom than the top :(

Other shield games going in the right direction for us ATM :). In fairness , if anybody could shoot themselves in the foot, it's our mighty Redbacks .
