Why do you feel the need to preach in public places? If people want to hear you, they know what a church is.

Are you under instruction to preach in public places? Is it too recruit new members?

the bible instructs believers to go and preach the gospel.

we dont always go and preach in the streets as we've found that it generally doesn't build the church however going out and engaging in conversations with people and telling them our story and what good news is in the bible is an effective way to bring people to church. not everyone is willing to talk but if thats the case we move on until someone is interested.

not many and thats partly because of the people who do call themselves Christians but live in contradiction to what Christianity really is...

see the thing about street preaching is that when we do it we preach the love of God and hope you can find through Jesus and the free gift of salvation.

a message that says "repent or die and go to hell" is immediately going to put people off.

I understand that street preaching may seem like 'ramming it down peoples throats' however it also a way to tell a lost and lonely world that God cares for you and has a plan for you.

if you had a message that has the power to change lives, it would be selfish and irresponsible to keep it to yourself. you as the listener then can exercise the choice to listen or disregard what we say.

the thing is Jesus has changed my life and He can do the same for you, I believe that to the point I would go and shout it from the rooftops.

Fair call NG, my post wasn't intended to be a slant, hope it didn't come across that way.

For any religious group to preach their word to people in a gentle, non-confrontational and effectively optional manner is fine IMHO, I was more specifically referring to those who harangue people and IMHO send them running in the complete opposite direction.

People tend to only hear the bad side of churches, and that's understandable because some of the actions are deadset atrocities. But on the flip side regardless of individual beliefs, I know of a handful of people that would have hit an early grave had it not been for the help they received from the church. And Im glad they are still around.

No more mental crutches, no more hiding behind religion as an excuse, no more inauthentic behaviour. Rather, one had to take full responsibility for one's actions; full responsibility for one's existence. I heartily recommend casting off the shackles of religion to all and sundry.

I will not however be approaching people in Rundle Mall to share this amazing revelation. Part of the acceptance of one's own determination is the realisation that every other person is in charge of his own determination and must be respected accordingly.

My Dad really was born on Christmas Day.
As kid I felt sorry for him for that unfortunate timing, and always wrapped two presents.
