A superb all-round performance by the Aussies.

A bloody good effort, and I'm sure not many of us predicted us to do it that easily.
What next for the Saffers?
Surely Petersen will have to make way for Quinton de Kock, but does Peterson hold onto his spot? Does South Africa play an extra batsman, and rely on Steyn, Morke, Philander and McLaren bowl, with Duminy to chip in? Or do they pick a frontline spinner who isn't Peterson or Tahir?

They need more than De Kock.
They have 4 guys (Petersen x2, McLaren and Duminy) that wouldnt get a game at Shield level.
I noticed De Kock hasnt even made their 15 man squad for the series and the 4 in the squad who didnt play are Elgar, Parnell, Kleinveld and Tsolekile.
Most of those 4 are just ordinary allrounders that aren't up to it. Dont know much about Tsolekile but the other 3 are spuds.
De Kock could replace Robin Petersen or Duminy but it still leaves a massive hole at the top, Alviro Petersen is a shocker and Smith is on his last legs, can see them being 2 for stuff all every innings

Be interesting to see what kind of pitch they'll dish up for the next test. A road perhaps?

Thought the same Q but if they play these games all they are doing is feeding the Australian Ego. Australia are a thinking test team due no doubt to Lehmann and are very egotistical which other countries struggle to deal with and funnily when ever Australia play like this they dominate....

Doesnt matter what pitch they serve up if their skipper is too gutless to bat first on it.

Reckon they might take their chances with a real green top, try and bring their bowlers into it more.

Re: Test Squad for South African Tour - predictions & discus
the problem is their strengths are australia's strengths. not like in england when they prepared dust bowls for swann and to counter our pace attack.
the pitch suited south africa too, just that mitch johnson did it better.
a road will negate their advantage too, and without a decent spinner they will struggle.
absolute greentop would give them more of a chance, as days said. amla and devilliers would handle that better than most of the aussie batsmen too

Damage is already done imo similar to the Brisbane Test. Saffers imo are more mentally fragile than the Poms however the Saffers are @ home.
