Re: Great Southern Cricket Association
Massive loss for Aldinga.. Will be a tough season ahead if they haven't picked anyone up. Matty Franceschini will have to lead the way with the bat

Re: Great Southern Cricket Association
The new layout has my eyes darting all over the place! Any bold predictions for the season ahead? I will go out on a limb and say Encounter Bay will once again be the team to beat. I think the rest of the clubs will all be very competitive and you could throw a blanket over most of the competition.
With Aldinga losing the Garrards I fear they will have a very tough season. Andy returning to Goolwa with his merry men of Robertsons will boost their chances of playing finals cricket. Im looking forward to seeing how Rapid Bay/ Yank go in the A Grade. Very strong batting with Bennett, Bartlett, Willis, Ashton-Place, Jones all very good but will they be able to take enough wickets.
Will be interesting to see sides on the weekend to see if there are any big pick ups or losses for clubs!

Just a tad late, only just heard but what happened at aldinga for the garrards to leave? Heard some people didnt like the no bullshit captaincy from rohan. Anyone that can clear that up?
Handy inclusions to noarlunga, MASSIVE loss for the sharks. Will be interesting to see how they both go when the pressure is not always on them to perform

Re: Great Southern Cricket Association
The season is shaping well , the Agrade comp has seen EB,Will , and MV all show their depth and class , Goolwa are the big improvers with the exception for the hiccup last round against the newly formed Yankalilla/ Rapid Bay side. Aldinga after a slow start are now showing good depth will be around the mark. Mt Compass , Y/RB and Pt Elliot are still finding the right combinations but will win their fair share.

Has been very quiet on here this season i thought wen Goolwa started winning bloods would be all over their bandwagon. Not long know till meyer shield a lot of young batters making tons should be good signs for years to come. Our boy Keith is doing an excellent job leading by example and will have to be in the 11, possibly even captain. Would be great to see the Schofield brothers both play.

your right hugh. lots of good young lads making runs this year. would be good to see some new faces get a go this year.
keith is a chance to play but wont be captain IMO. plenty of more experienced leaders around the league. would be good to see a Donaldson or some one like that run it i think.
In other news, aaron moules is back from darwin and ready to fire against goolwa this week on the turf. was bowling great heat in the nets nearly collecting a few. Hamish has just enough time to trip over his washing basket again and do his hammy so he escapes facing him for another few months #poomapants #getmum

C'mon now NB... I'm sure Hamish would have been on the front foot all day, he's not one to back down from some heat! One premier quick to another... just a shame the weather didn't allow for the pie oven to get cranked right up!!!
Merry Xmas all!

Re: Great Southern Cricket Association
Looks like a very solid young side, any news on how they went today? Hopefully their are no incidents from players who didn't get picked like last year OBNT

Re: Great Southern Cricket Association
GSCA played A @EH and got rolled , GSCA batted first and only made about 90 , got chased down in 30 overs. The Invitation 11 beat Torrens Valley with 5 overs to spare chasing 138. I haven't heard of any issues at this stage , hopefully not.

GSCA beat Southern today , making 9/170 and bowling Southern out for 115. Invitation 11 made 103 in reply to Hills mammoth 6/313.

Re: Great Southern Cricket Association
With the top 4 in the A's set it looks for a great hit out this match with the top 4 sides all playing each other.
Goolwa V Enc Bay will be a big test for the Pies. I'm know a few of the bay boys have penciled in this clash all season. Should be an absolute blockbuster! I just hope for all the fans that will get along to the game that neither side "rests" any of their superstars in preparation for finals!
Willunga V McLaren was shaping up to be the decider for who finished 2nd but with McLaren securing the 12 points last match they have all but secured their top 2 finish. McLaren's strength is their batting and with Chambers, Ifould and Altus 3 of the top 4 leading run scorers for the season, they will be hard to stop. Word is that the mercurial Bodie Wilson may have injured himself so lets hope he is right for the match as he has the absolute X factor!!!

The blockbuster at goolwa failed to come to fruition. With just 138 runs from 70 overs by the home side (incuding 20 sundries) in one of the most boring days of cricket seen since The Corpse With Pads On, Bill Lawrie, retired from international cricket. If the scoring rate was any slower the scoreboard may have started to go backwards. The Captain Evans led from the front with a dangerous 36 from 100+ balls in a display so exciting it had at least two of the spectators asleep.

Congrats to Goolwa for winning the minor premiership... from what I've read on social media tonight they are the hot priced favourites for the flag! #sizzlinghotpies #steaminghotpies #goolwa2013/14 #cheercheertheblackandthewhite

It was definitely an intense game.. Both sids fought hard throughout but to have Goolwa 4/24 then for them to reach 4/122 then lose their last 6 wickets for 9 runs in 5 overs to be all out for 131 was an Incredible finish to the game.
