They have picked up some very good players, nearly early season premiership favorites, well at least minor premiership favorites ;)

What is the salary cap in the SANFL at the moment? I assume Glenelg would be paying these guys between 30-35k each, so between Joseph, Thorp, Lonergan, Stark thats probably $130 - $140k.

Probably the only team that has improved their list, everyone else is going the other way.
Wether thats enough to go past everyone else remains to be seen.

Anyone know the current market?
Glenelg would have to be in top 3.

I'm hoping Stevens can coach as well as he can recruit.

I have it on pretty good authority that Justin Hardy's knee is pretty bad and he'd be lucky to be right to go by Round 10 next year. Has to have another operation and actually may not play footy again, from what I heard...

I think it's $375k for the ordinary SANFL clubs and 10 million for Adelaide and Port.

Yeah the unevenness of this staggers me, still can't believe 6 clubs agreed to this!!!!!!!!

All it will take is for 1 of the AFL reserves teams to flog a SANFL team and some of those 6 clubs will think what have we done!!!!!

Mitch Thorp is taking on a playing/coaching role, so I would think his coaching payments are outside the cap.

Did the bays win the $70mill?
Joseph and lonergan would be in the top few paid players in the sanfl.

With the departures of Tenace, Mules and Davenport, and the alleged mid season departure of Kirkby, it is reasonable to think that there is sufficient room in the Bays' cap. I wouldn't have thought we were paying maximum wages last year either.

Nope. If coach is playing all football related salary counts against the cap.

Thanks Spermy, much appreciated.

So recruit your arse off, pay top dollar in the process, risk getting caught cheating the cap, win the flag, then ask for forgiveness later.

Did I get it right?

Almost. You forgot the bit about actually get caught, do a dodgey deal and backflip, have your penalty lifted and destroy the comp.
