SANFL reserves is miles ahead of A1. The best A1 players are often former junior system players and many failed to even get into SANFL reserves. Those that did often played a handful of forgettable games.

I don't agree that SANFL players are only there to et drafted or make money. Some? Yes, but they are the same ones who would jump ship for more money previously. Biggest motivator for most is to play highest standard of footy they can.

Re: Rumours and Player Movement Discussions for 2014
I believe the Eagles will not be chasing a ruckman. The ruck/forward (Fraser Thurlow) they bought down from Queensland midway through the season was rookie listed by Essendon. Will go with Borholm, Heinjus and Carl Muller.
Disappointing to see Zac Fitzgerald leave, a very talented player and tremendous kick, wasn't given enough opportunities and time to settle in. Indications are that he will play for RSMU.
Saw all of Lachlan Carey's games for the Eagles, attitude was great and always gave 110% effort. Every now and then made a killer skill error. In my opinion he was improving, will be missed for depth.
Nick Joyce is taking time off from football.
All three recruits - Wundke, Boyd and Templeton have been training.
Jimmy Allan is very distraught at way he was treated by the Roosters and was dudded by one of his best mates there. Disillusioned with baseless rumours and considering playing country or local football. Not a happy fellow at the moment.

They obviously are in desperate need of a key forward now and also their ruck stocks are low and could use a few more defenders....
Any rumours about possible recruits? We know money is no issue down there.
Is it possible Toby Stribling could return now Fuller is gone?
1. Normally yes but as we have kept all of the last years players except for Wundke, and lost little by way of Crows and Port, and, not a soul drafted.
2. We have recruited Lachlan Boyd (tall forward) and expect u18 all Australian Darcy Hourigan to be prominent. As for Rucks, I suspect that we have the next genuine 200 game player in Keegan Brooksby and Daniel Bass. Peter Steffe was the state 18's ruck man .
3. Ryan Griffen wants to come back but we have asked that he gets some leadership experience at Footscray first. Franklin has too many tats and the Selwoods duck.
4. I hope he does otherwise I am the biggest knob at the club.

It will be interesting to see how we go then given we've been spoilt for options in the past 20 years.
Thinking back we've have had Parry, Lindsay, Wiggins, Nieman, Biglands, Negri at various stages. They were all amongst the top ruckman in the competition at their time.
I've never seen Muller play so not sure whether he has any potential.
I think South Adelaide will now probably have the best ruck pairing going round with Brooksby and Bass.

Baulderstone/Dawe/Clarke is fairly handy

Game 1 at Coopers Stadium Norwood v Port Magpies or Port Power ?
North v an unnamed team representing the AFC.
Last years grand finalists playing the two AFL reserves teams ..... should be playing the two bottom sides and work their way up !
