Going for an outright is not a big deal for us, We bowled warradale out the week before in 32 overs and called it quits there, The cox plate was on and we wanted to watch that instead. Our D grade side is mainly made up of footballers who have never played club cricket before and have seen this as a way for us to get together every saturday and have a bit of fun outside of footy.

6 out of the 11 from saturday have played 3 games or less and 1 has played 15 games in about 10 years.

Im more concrened about giving all the guys a bat and a bowl so they can enjoy their cricket, rather than worrying about trying to win outright.

If it took us more than 30 overs to bowl them out next week, we will probably call it quits there again.

Furthermore, who the **** "retires" on 214?

2/120 would be perfect for the day, show the footballers how "fun" cricket can be

Good luck to them if they decide to do that, if we are not good enough to take ten wickets then thats too bad for us.

Being from Sheidow we had the same play with mates policy a few years back which personally I hated with a passion because when it came later in the year and we need these guys to play up and help our struggling A, B and C grades that year they simply turned their backs. Best thing we ever did was scrap that silly rule and whilst im around I hope it never comes back. These guys no longer play when it got tough in the higher grades and they weren't big fish but we found guys to replace them and 2 years later we had our top 3 sides play off in GFs last year.

If I was to have one major criticism of it all the whole post over Facebook these blokes copped it all day Saturday on the field and its still Monday and their still copping it from random people and yes they are seeing it all (I know I heard it wasnt anyone that played that posted it) but enjoy the result as a team and a club not with the 'world'. I was showed it by a mate from KI first thing Sunday morning and had several people at work who dont even follow cricket talking about it so it spread very quickly.

Take nothing away from it a great effort and when you are on top during a match you control how it is played so they batted on, can only play who we put on the park which is player 45 to 55 and they are that for a reason quite simply they just arent up to it. Ive read about the footballers side of things and all that not a drama but that would one thing that could be handled better by all clubs with social media from now on surely?

I have spoken to several of them over the past day and they are more then keen to keep the opposition out there all day and good luck to them I will be interested to see what approach is taken against them as Im sure most of the 1000 people who have liked and commented on that post will be checking in again this saturday as well.

From the social media side of things, It was not sent in or posted by any of the lads from the D grade side, When the negative comments started coming in from people that know nothing about our side or the game played on saturday most of the lads have had a crack back at them.

Like i stated in my original post, we have 6 guys in our side that are playing cricket for the first time ever, one thats played 15 games in 10 years and 4 guys that havent played for between 2-5 years.

If anyone actually looked at our results they would see that we lost our first game and had one of the greatest collapses of all time 7/2! with almost the exact same side. It is certainly not a case of lets keep all the good players in the lower grades by any stretch, Im pretty sure a bloke that is 45 years old and hasnt picked up a bat in two years is allowed to come back through the lower grades.

While everyone is commenting on whether we should of declared and put a negative spin on our score, i would like to congratulate Jason Kennewell for making his first 100 when his previous top score was 46, Ben Kennewell who made his first 50 (his previous top score was 1. Also Travis Young and Daniel Steer who both made it into the forties (both there top scores were less than 10)

It was always going to be tough for a side with 9 spinners on a ground that is the same size as an A4 piece of paper.

as long as the rest of the team have a chance to have a go that's all that matters, I should have explained myself better, didn't realise you are not very bright..

20 months is still wrong but I'll let you have it.

Nothing wrong with someone playing div 7 helping out at 45 years by the way. More worries about a quirk from 5 years ago dominating lower grades for example. Still think they should of declared but ahwell, hope sheidow chase it down

why should have they declared??? it's seniors not juniors.. and ive been on the receiving end of some smashings. should have declared, blah blah blah!!! id rather see a 600 run day then 110 run day... yawn!!!! Everyone is very precious...

ok i'll flip it the other way... what if Plympton got bowled out for 40 (which has happened when ive played) should the other side be so kind not to go for out right or when we're 7/30 should the other side be so kind to bowl under arm???
