Even though I think it's a couple of years old now this guy's incredible dancing still puts a smile on my face everytime.

Re: Things that you rate!
Finally managed to solve the rubiks cube today - as a kid in early 80's I worked out how to get 2 layers.
I got a new cube for my birthday recently, and finally got all 6 colours (without pulling it part or changing the stickers over)

I got one from Adam Internet at the Royal Show and had another crack.
I still can't solve it...
There used to be a guide to solving it but I've reisted trying the wimps way out.
I'll keep on having a shot every so often.

Re: Things that you rate!
I rate the fact that I found this story about New Zealand on a normally rather dry USA based medical web site, Medscape.
I'm not quite sure where I stand on the NZ decision itself...
I'm not quite sure where I stand on the NZ decision itself...
... But what if, as a matter of public policy, the government started saying, "You know what? We're not dealing with fat people any more. We're throwing them out of here."
If you think that that's fantasy, New Zealand just had a situation with 2 people who had migrated there 7 years ago from South Africa, a chef and his wife. The chef, when he arrived in New Zealand, weighed about 360 pounds. That was packed onto a 5'6" frame. His wife was not obese. After about 6 years, they applied for a renewal of their right to stay and work and run their restaurant in New Zealand, but they were told that they had to leave. He was too fat.
The government said that he is going to be a burden on their healthcare system. They didn't want him there. He and his wife, who isn't fat, had to get out of there. He has been there for 7 years and no one had said anything. And I have to add something else: He had lost about 50 pounds, so he was moving in the right direction. Still, the New Zealand government said, "No. We are deporting you because you're fat."

Media release: October 30, 2013
Schoolies join parade to bring Guinness World Record bikini title back home
Schoolies everywhere are answering the call to help bring the Guinness World Record bikini parade world title back to its spiritual home of Surfers Paradise.
Hundreds of Schoolies have put their hands up to be part of the Gold Coast Bikini Parade 2013 World Record Attempt to be held on November 30, during the annual Schoolies Week celebrations.
CEO of schoolies.com Matt Lloyd said Schoolies were loving the idea of participating in the Guinness world record bikini parade attempt, which epitomised summer fun on the Gold Coast with the added bonus of raising funds for the Surfers Paradise SLSC.
“Heaps of Schoolies are registering for the bikini parade when they book their schoolies.com holiday. They are pretty keen to play a part in bringing the title back to the Gold Coast where it rightfully belongs,’’ Mr Lloyd said.
The Gold Coast originally set the record in 2011 with 357 bikini-wearing women and girls on parade. The title later fell in Panama City with 450 and is currently held by China with 1058.
Held as part of the Gold Coast Swim Fashion Festival, the Gold Coast Bikini parade is the total distance walked in a single line of 1.6km.
And the boys don’t have to miss out on the fun. This year there is a special boardies and budgie smugglers category created just for them.
The Gold Coast Bikini Parade supports Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club.
Schoolies.com are the experts in Schoolies holidays, booking in excess of 500,000 schoolies over the past 25 years.
All schoolies.com customers enjoy a range of exclusive benefits such as supervised events, Schoolies photo ID, comprehensive security arrangements at accommodation, 24-hour helpline for students and parents, financial security and more.

There is the light of reason on the horizon: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/11/04 ... h_priests/
The actual letter: http://edition.cnn.com/2013/11/03/world ... index.html
Four of the best-known scientists espousing the belief that humanity's carbon emissions are an immediate and deadly threat have issued a statement begging their fellow greens to support nuclear power.
Doctors James Hansen, Ken Caldeira, Kerry Emanuel and Tom Wigley co-signed an open letter over the weekend in which they address "those influencing environmental policy, but opposed to nuclear power". The four scientists write that "continued opposition to nuclear power threatens humanity's ability to avoid dangerous climate change ... there is no credible path to climate stabilization that does not include a substantial role for nuclear power".
Hansen in particular is famous for having more or less personally come up with and promoted the idea of human-caused, carbon-driven global warming being a massive and urgent threat. His long career as a NASA scientist was punctuated by campaigning against carbon emissions, to the point where he was arrested for his behaviour at protests more than once.
