First Ashes Test Team predictions

Post by Panther Pack »

Reckon 1st test team Will probably look like this:

Rogers
Warner
Watson
Clarke
Bailey
Smith
Haddin
Johnson
Siddle
Harris
Lyon

The only 2 spots up for debate appear to Bailey and Johnson but both would be leading the race at the moment.

Am hearing Pattinson should be fit for the 3rd test at the WACA also.

Can this team win us back the Ashes I think it can but selectors can not be chopping and changing the team every match!

I think you're pretty much spot on.

Until recently, I had never been a fan of Bailey, but I think it's time to give him a run.

whats starcs injury like? will we see him this season?

i think bailey definitely should be given a go. definitely more experienced than khawaja, and seems to have some good form going. hughes probably unlucky to miss but reckon bailey will go alright

I would definitely put a line through Khawaja's name. He's not up to it.

Think you will find Watson at 3 with Warner and Rogers opening.

After Inverarity's comments the other day and Bailey's knock last night I have no doubt George will be batting at number 6 in the 1st test.

What I find annoying is that the selectors have already selected the team before any Shield Cricket which makes performances in Shield virtually irrelevent. Personally think this should change Shield performances must be rewarded.

I would also play less ODI cricket, sometimes less is more!

Agree but day one of the shield saw most of the contenders who batted fail ala Warner, Klinger, Wade etc

Only Clarke and Smith were the current Aussie players to hit over 40.

Doolan has a big chance today

Fawah Ahmed just took 6/68 against the Western Australians.

Meanwhile the other spinners have

Nathan Lyon- 0/26 (14)
Ashton Agar- 2/93 (22)
Sean O'Keefe- 1/25(17)
Adam Zampa- yet to bowl
C.Rose- 1/53

Not a fan of selecting players that can obtain a passport, don't wanna turn into England/everywhere.

Develop our own. Sorry Fawah but your not an Aussie, yes you live here now but mate your a paki.

Don't care about a players background just believe to play for a country you should be born there and learnt your craft there.

what a bunch of horse shit. if you are good enough you play for your country. he is australian now, doesnt matter where he came from.

having said that, i dont think he has done enough just yet, would like to see a full season of domestic cricket, and if he goes well i would be more than happy seeing him picked.

Lol horse shit? He's an Aussie is he?

The whole refuge, immigration argument is separate to this. I'm glad he came here for a safe happy life.

But he's not an Aussie cricketer. We're not the poms. We don't need every ring in from every corner of the globe to be good. Come on....

If he has his citizenship papers he is Aussie. To think otherwise is pretty racist imo.

Bullsht it's racist that's ridiculous. Ive got no problems with anyone being in Australia and becoming Australian at all. When it comes to national sporting teams I think you should be born and have played your early sport in that country. Same as state of origin criteria in a sense.

Of course he didn't move here because of sport.... He can move here for any reason at all, I just don't think it should make him eligible for our national team. That's my opinion, we hang shit on England for having over half their side from elsewhere...

so what if he moved here when he was 1 year old? would that be ok if he played then? what about 4 years old? 10? before he started playing sport? where do you draw the line?

and tbh i dont think anyone seriously thinks that KP shouldnt play for england (except you maybe), but that doesnt mean we wont give them shit about it, when he goes alright.

Yeah before they start playing team sport is probably a good starting point, I haven't forumulated the exact criteria but a guy that is born in another country, lives and plays there until into his 30's, then moves here (for whatever reason) to me doesn't fit the criteria for a national team.

If he got picked great and good for him and I'd hope he takes a shit load of wickets!!

I'm just not sure why you feel the need to add the extra criteria above citizenship
