The 'leadership contracted player' (on an unspecified and so presumably uncapped amount of coin) of the Crows 2s was designed for a player like Callinan. There aren't a whole bucketload of suitable over-28-yo ex-Adelaide FC players currently performing well in the SANFL, so if the Crows hadn't grabbed Callinan they would have presumably gone for Brad Symes! Bad news for Centrals either way.

Beard, Rose, Grove to South Adelaide Sandercock and Barns to North Adelaide Gray, Kirkwood and Watt to Eagles
Heffernan, Nyskohus, Heath, Cockshell to Port Districts
Sharrad and Raikiwasa staying at Port Adelaide
I think you'll find that Gray gets rookied by Power & Kirkwood, Watt and Beard have all committed (can't sign til magpies contract expires) to the same club - but not one mentioned above. Unfortunately it's not Westies, good trio to get considering age and performance.

Im hearing very similar....must be a club that has a lot space in the salary cap..
Just spoke to a senior Centrals player who is also involved in interviewing and recruiting players, the majority of port magpie players are leaving.
Kirkwood to north
Centrals have missed out on the rest as they will be all be split between Sturt and the Eagles because most of the blokes wanted to continue playing together.
Centrals have spoke to more players this year than they have in the last 5 years combined.
No decision from Nutta yet, he will sit down with the Crows and Centrals this week but he has been encouraged by all parties to make the best decision long term for his family, will most likely play for the crows but and will not be parting centrals on bad terms and has said if that's the case out of respect to Centrals he won't be play the two games a year against them which the Crows apparently have agreed to

The new SANFL. Uncompromised and full of integrity.

I think you might find kirkwood might end up at sturt with a few other port boys.
Fair enough, apparently the port players have openly told clubs that they come as a package and as many of them want to play together as possible and Sturt makes sense considering how many players they lose

Kirkwood is a gun player and will be a great pickup for Sturt if they can get him.
I was hoping the eagles would be able to lure him across to Woodville Oval but it appears that we have not had the success. The question is now whether we go after Boyd. Might be a bit of a risk due to whatever reason he was sacked but no doubt he is a class player.
Not sure what we are doing if we miss out on those guys given the eagles policy of only recruiting players already based within SA or ex-AFL players who are former eagles. Besides Boyd and a few port guys, there is not much floating around.
Does anyone know if the club has spoken to Growden (former eagles junior) who was delisted by the Giants? I know he a was a star in the juniors a few years ago and can play in the midfield but not sure whether he is capable of turning into a handy SANFL league player.

Thought Sturt were broke, these guys playing for the love of it are they?

They still have to replace the players they have lost and still have to be able to put 42 blokes on the field, they have no chance if survival as a club just recruiting shite cheap footballers and collecting spoon after spoon, there only chance of survival is with success
Maybe the port blokes aren't asking for as much if it means they can stay together.
Josh Growden did the last few training sessions of the season with the Eagles but undecided about what he will do, will wait and see if there is any AFL interest.
