Yeh, this "I made the decision in one minute" rubbish is just that. He's contemplated it for ages and it was just a formality in the end.

Maybe Buddy wants to learn from Longmire like Tippet did. Never had anyone over 5ft6 coach them

SEN just reported there is a rumour the Hawks are going to match the Swans offer for Franklin tomorrow.
This would force the Swans to then trade out a decent player or pick for him or he goes into the PSD where GWS will get him. Id imagine the AFL would be more than happy for thst outcome to occur.
The only danger would be if Buddy then accepts the Hawks offer which would seriously blow their salary cap to bits
Id love to see them call his bluff though

Judging by Brent Guerra's interview on 5AA, the Hawthorn players aren't too bothered he's leaving. I don't think they'll resort to petty stuff like that.

Highly doubtful. Why draft/retain a player who doesn't want to be there? Hawthorn could end up worse off.

Wasnt Hawks offer better than $ydney anyway
As i said earlier, f#%@ him, match the offer and play him at Box Hill for all i care, these blokes have to learn they are restricted free agents, they have not earnt the right and or given the service required to be unrestricted free agents.
Really pi55es me that the players and managers just seem to think its a done deal once they get a deal from someone else.

Can anyone tell me if the Hawks match the offer does he have to accept it or can he refuse and go to the pre season draft?
Maybe the AFL have been busy negoitiating with GWS and the Hawks in the last couple days

He can go into the pre season draft like any player out of contract. The hawks won't get any compensation though.

Dont have an issue with him going to Sydney but not for nothing though.
If the Swans want Buddy they should give up a decent player or first round pick for him.
If the Hawks are going to get nothing for him they are better off sending him to GWS

Would love the Hawks to do it
He is too gutless to even attend Hawthorn's B&F Count, would love to see the Hawks send him to GWS

If we break it down to whats better for the hawks it is clearly to match the offer and make sydney deal with us.

If we dont match offer we get pick 20 who may or may not be a dud that is unlikely to help us win a flag anytime soon. One draft pick will not save us from falling eventually like everyone does
We know he will not accept the Hawks offer as he wants to live in sydney therefore sydney have to trade, even if we settle for just pick 15 its better than 20 and it also means Sydney dont have pick 15 anymore.
If they refuse to trade he goes to GWS for nothing or we trade with GWS getting a better deal than the current situation.

Sydney need him more than Hawks need him therefore advantage Hawthorn

No we couldnt match the COLA assisted Swans offer for him. We didnt want him to go.
Im sure Josh would still crave a Hawks premiership like his father and grandfather

I dont like the COLA, but i dont think you can attribute it to every player Sydney signs...they do have the regular salary cap amount too. If Kennedy and Tippett were both getting heaps from the COLA, then theres no way any of it is going to Buddy.
