Andy D goes on the Footy Show a few weeks ago and Sam Newman has half a crack and he just defends the MRP to the hilt - in fact all the AFL hierarchy do the same. It's as if they are untouchable.

The only way the message is going to get through the thick heads at AFL House is for the fans to do something about it on a mass level. I doubt a petition would have much effect cos anyone can write 1,000 names on a piece of paper. But, as suggested several posts back I think a boycott of games in a round (I know only rounds 22 and 23 left) would cost the AFL money and that is what they value most.

If they are going to let a trio of clueless ex-player nobodies deprive the fans of seeing the best players on a regular basis due to pathetic tribunal decisions then why should the public pay to go and see matches when those players are out suspended. Any kid who has a Hamish Hartlett footy card or guernsey with his number on the back doesn't get to see his hero play against Carlton in round 23 for the last time before finals this season because he executed a perfect bump on an unsuspecting player in the course of the game. Why should that kid or his parents fork out money to go and see Port at Aami in round 23 bumping up the AFL coffers when they are the ones who stopped him from playing? They may probably still fans of the team and will still go but surely the impact of not seeing Hartlett there will sour that kids experience of going to the game.

Is it possible for the footy fans of the country to unite against this oppressive regime and show en masse that we're sick of this current situation and demand change immediately!!!

All you need is someone high profile to get it out publicly and it would gain momentum pretty quick I reckon. Don't just stop at boycotting the games, turn off the telly also. The only thing that keeps me semi interested is the competitions associated with the sport

couple of years ago it would have been just a free kick down the ground, but going on how the MRP has been this year he has to go... It will be a dead set disgrace if he gets of.. If he does get of, Ken Hinkley and Hartlett should ask for an explanation!

Agreed, there was nothing in the bump but on current form they will give him games, which based on precedent they should - there has been some dumb decisions this season!

I heard this morning that the Sydney club doctor has put his report in saying there was no damage done. The fact that this is already being put out in the media makes me think they're trying to make everyone think there was nothing in it, so when they let him off people will agree with the decision.

I agree he should go, because so many have already this year for similar stuff. I just dont think they will suspend him because he brings fans through the gates. The AFL care about two things, their own egos, and their bank accounts.

What a ******* joke. Harlett got three for a perfectly timed bump, which also had contact with the shoulder to the head...BUT WAS IN PLAY, while Franklin simply tried to pick off a bloke after he disposed of the ball. Cheap shot expert.

Baffling, but not surprising.
