If golf was easy everyone would be doing it! My ambition is to break 100. I only need to lose the three or four holes every game that destroy me. Like an 8 I had today on a par 3. Ruinous

my ambition is to get my handicap lower

but I gotta start playing more comp golf but a bloody thing called work keeps getting in the way!

there are generally always a few shots per round that give you encouragement to keep playing, and others that make you think, why the **** am I out here!!!

The older I get the more economical I get.
Rather than trying that magic shot through the trees after spraying a tee shot, I'll concede a safer shot and accept a bogey.

Oh yeah me too. I remember a thing on this, it was called Playing Percentage Golf or something. Pays off if you resist trying the shot that Rory or Tiger might pull off, and just settle for the little low punch shot to just get on the fairway rather than up the fairway

It's just not as fun :)

I could probably gain a stroke or two per round if I settle for the putter from off the green sometimes - rather than chip. I just love chipping from around the green.

On the 7th dogleg, I went straight over the left bunkers, and rolled right up towards the green where it's GUR, was satisfying!

Lasy time I played there was a nightmare, worst round in ages..

Highlight was on the 9th where i was on the green in 2! Second shot - Thought I would pull out the 3 wood hybrid (was about 230m out) and landed on the green! 2 Putt... Birdie!

Since I started on the 10th, it was the last hole and made me still wanting to play the game :)

Crikey 230m with a hybrid 3 is huge.

It probably is the fairway wood... if that makes a difference!

I was pretty happy!

My TaylorMade hybrid goes 200m+ easily... as long as I hit it like an iron and not like a wood.
The 3W can get 250 if hit properly.

Will become a member of Thaxted Park over the weekend. They are running a deal for their current members that if they can sign a new member the first year will be a 2 for 1 membership. Hoping the course will benefit from the new water grant they have just received during the warmer months and make it a better course all year round.

From their website

After a process of nearly 4 years the General Committee are excited to announce that a contract between Thaxted Park Golf Club and the Onkaparinga Council has been agreed and signed.

Harvested water from the “Waterproofing the South” initiative will be made available to the Club, up to a minimum amount of 40 ML per summer period for the next 4 summers.

With the Club's current natural water retention (60 ML) added to this we have now increased our annual water amount by over 66% and 100 ML in total.

I've paid more for walks on some nice golf courses. Sea Temple at Port Douglas was a highlight.
