Both are part of the best 22 of a top 4 side

Both have already attracted interest from rival clubs

Not saying they are champions yet, but are Surgan or White???? That was the comparison I was making

Surjan is pretty hard at it and would be easily ahead of Van Berlo - IMO

Reilly would command a decent trade with something else - IMO

White works as hard as Perrie and has nearly become a Crow twice - not sayin there the same but would be in the same bracket - IMO

He is very vocal on the track and is hard as nails, he has definitely proven himself to Crow fans.. he is even a cult figure of the club!

Hard as nails???? I dont watch him every week but still remember him blatantly pulling out in a contest that rewarded Port Puffs with a goal in last years showdown...

Who mentioned Perrie? Surgan easily ahead of Van Berlo? What's your basis for that comment? I am interested in the "easily" bit ....

White has cleaner skills than Perrie.

Will be interesting to see whether Freo can indeed stitch up this re-signing now, because if it does drift til the seasons end, and Freo miss out on the 8, one would imagine it would be additional motivation for Matty to look for an exit?

Sorry mate just givin Perrie as an example of player type for discussion

Just think Surjan is a ball winner and Van Berlo is a ball receiver - give me the ball winner any day.

LOL

I've actually become a bit more appreciative of Perrie this year, his workrate is excellent and whilst he's not the complete forward, not too many in the comp are ... I think a lot of teams in the competition would be better off for having a Sarge in their lineup.

I think many Crows fans get the irrits with him, because they were spoiled in the glory years with the likes of Jarman and Modra, who are generational players that don't come along too often.

Even if Pavlich re-signs with Freo, doesn't mean he's a certainty to stay there. It just means that he's contracted to play AFL Football. If Freo traded him, the new club has to make good on the contract.

A good friend of mine who is best mates with Pav told me yesterday he's staying at Freo and yes he has signed a 2 year deal. Unfortunately we won't see the big Pav back in SA in either Crows or Power colours, not yet anyway!
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!

Pav will stay in Perth, the pub that he and Haselby had redeveloped is doing very nicely. I'm sure he'll take his investments here in to consideration as well as football (not to mention his girlfriend getting a say in things!).
It's all the SANFL's fault.

I didn't think the Crows or Port ever had a hope in hell getting him.

Another interesting thing is how many of those players taken in the same draft still play for the club that selected them, or even still play at all:

1 Pre selection - Josh Fraser - Collingwood Still there
2 Pre selection - Paul Haselby - Freo Still there
3 Aaron Fiora - Richmond St Kilda
4 Mathew Pavlich - Freo Still there
5 Leigh Brown - Freo Kangaroos
6 Damian Cupido - Brisbane SANFL
7 Danny Roach - Collingwood Who? Assume gone
8 Joel Corey - Geelong Still there
9 Caydn Beetham - St Kilda Who? Assume gone
10 Luke McPharlin - Hawthorn Fremantle

Fairly happy with Geelong's choice in that draft. I was critical of Corey earlier in the season but he is one of many Catters who have upped the ante in the past month. Still reckon Pavlich is the most overrated footballer in the land bar none.

Good point Permstance. Cat fans have slammed blokes like Mensch and Kingsley who were never going to be Gary Ablett...who was a once in a century type player.

I'd heard (and again, this may well not be correct) that Port were going to use Damon White + Jacob Surjan + 1st Round pick, or something along those lines.

Port would be pretty happy if that trade came off !!!

Exactly, no way would Freo accept that deal.

And the Crows would not trade Reilly AND van berlo AND a pick.

Surjan's averaging 18.44 possessions per game, VB is averaging 18.1.

Surjan is 12 months older, and yet VB has played more games. VB is developing quicker than Surjan is, and I can't believe you're claiming VB is a "ball receiver". I would think he gets just as many hardballs as any other 20 year old in the league.
