I think it is now. I saw Richard Douglas run up to a Bulldogs player yesterday and say "Boo!"

That might just be Richard Douglas though.

It was a serious question though, i mean the NRL banned the shoulder charge couple seasons ago because of the influence on kids, so you have to wonder how long until some soft c**k brainiac decides the bump is a negative influence on kids as well

Won't be long before a player loses the Brownlow for getting rubbed out for a hip and shoulder or an accidental head clash.

This is f@#kin pathetic!!!!

When I saw it live I said he'd get a week for that because it was head high contact. Three games at first and luckily now down to two games is bullshit.

had a look at the afl site on tribunal news and they showed the hit, which looked hard as, but to me was fair.
cant surely rub a guy out for a opposition player not having any awareness.
compared the Thomas from north Melbourne's hit on ben Reid earlier in the year.....same thing & got off.
worth a look at listening to the AFL rep trying to explain the two were different, or lack of.

The Pathetic AFL cant wait to get rid of the bump from the game all together so they can then start work on phasing out the tackle over a number of years. In 20 years time Aussie rules will be more like a game of basketball, only that goals are kicked and not thrown.

Looking at the Thomas bump early in the year, how did he not get reported for charging? On the weekend the tape and gunston incidents were similar to a degree. It seems one bloke was KO'd and other wasn't, it seems if you injure someone you will be suspended. In the spirit of the game, that is not a reportable bump. I reckon the coaches will be at tape to be more aware, not switch off around a contest.

Who would the AFL rather see in the finals Port or Carlton?
Crowds are down this years minor round, someone won't get their bonus if they are down in the major round!

wouldnt suprise me NM.

hey, what happens if two players clash heads and both get knocked out...................3 games each
hartlett & tape clashed heads, tape's head ended up hitting hartlett's shoulder from the force going the other way by hartlett. probably technically hartlett's free for to high ;)

The bump is almost dead.
As soon as contact with the head is made you are gone unfortunately.
Alwyn Davey copped 2 games last year for a perfect bump, no contact to the head whatsoever but the bump knocked the player off his feet and his head hit the ground which knocked him out.
Interesting though that Sandilands gets a broken cheekbone yet the Melbourne player was uncited

AFL it is 32 games. But that is halved once you retire.

Fletcher has the most but he has played a million games and he is just over half way to 32.

Footy fan forums around the country are up in arms about the ridiculous and inconsistent decisions these clowns make every week.

Andy D goes on the Footy Show a few weeks ago and Sam Newman has half a crack and he just defends the MRP to the hilt - in fact all the AFL hierarchy do the same. It's as if they are untouchable.

The only way the message is going to get through the thick heads at AFL House is for the fans to do something about it on a mass level. I doubt a petition would have much effect cos anyone can write 1,000 names on a piece of paper. But, as suggested several posts back I think a boycott of games in a round (I know only rounds 22 and 23 left) would cost the AFL money and that is what they value most.

If they are going to let a trio of clueless ex-player nobodies deprive the fans of seeing the best players on a regular basis due to pathetic tribunal decisions then why should the public pay to go and see matches when those players are out suspended. Any kid who has a Hamish Hartlett footy card or guernsey with his number on the back doesn't get to see his hero play against Carlton in round 23 for the last time before finals this season because he executed a perfect bump on an unsuspecting player in the course of the game. Why should that kid or his parents fork out money to go and see Port at Aami in round 23 bumping up the AFL coffers when they are the ones who stopped him from playing? They are probably still fans of the team and will still go but surely the impact of not seeing Hartlett there will sour that kids experience of going to the game.

Is it possible for the footy fans of the country to unite against this oppressive regime and show en masse that we're sick of this current situation and demand change immediately!!!
