Stewards abandoned the meeting at 11:40am (local time), which was 35 minutes before the scheduled start of the day’s racing.

Stewards had concern with three areas of the course that were considerably worse than the slow (7) rating while the inner road for support vehicles was unusable.

It would have been tough for the ambos, for sure.

8mm fell over Tuesday night at the track, the initial assessment suggested shifting the rail out, which they did after a quick trip to Gawler to pick up the relevant equipment.

Further inspections from other stewards and the jockeys pretty much surmised there were indeed areas where the track was considerably heavier than a Slow 7, within the space of three strides, which I think was the biggest concern given recent events.

Not a big worry for the Balak RC, they'll have an immaculate track come Cup Day on September 4, which won't have had a horse run on it for two months.

Gawler Sunday, looks like a good day on the piss and Punt. SOTS to pull his hoof out, tie that tongue down and put in hopefully. Barrier 4 is a bonus.

My bet of the day

AR 5 - 2 Ring Me Not.

Good form over the distance, good in the wet, good second up and good record at the class. Takes a 3kg claim in and I reckon it should be a good chance.

Others;

AR 4 6 Exalted Filly E/W
AR 7 4 Final Command

MR 1 2 Dehere Hunter
MR 3 15 Miss Matty
MR 6 11 Henwood and 15 Captain Fancypantz (Quin)
MR 8 9 Surpremacy

Surpremacy gets up at similar odds.

Happy days!

Savvy in again on Sat in Race 7, carrying 58.5 will be tough but not a hard field despite a couple of Victorians, Holly on board and hopefully it keeps raining.

They are switched on in Racing Victoria, Savvy had one run in Vic and all the owners get sent a Owners Gold Ticket which gives you fantastic race day privledges if your horse is running, but also if it isn't you can still get in to any non feature raceday for free in Victoria....take note SAJC

We got the same thing Dutchy. Our horse had one run on a country track in Vic and we still get members passes to this day. We sent some emails to SAJC and they put us in touch with the Oakbank racing club who replied with "we'd love to see you come to the track" ie, missing the point completely.

They are a mob of useless gits at the SAJC. I don't like Cossie (he sat for a position on the board from memory), but any semblance of youth or an idea for what might attract people back to the races HAS to be a good thing.

Oakbank has been going backwards recently hasn't it?

Unlike the Balaklava Cup! Who's coming?

It's going from a low base. Really, it's following the SAJC path.

I'd love to get in there and shake them up, but that's not going to happen in our generation.
