Talk on the national game

Good concept RD ... they'd probably leave the SANFL/VFL/WAFL out of it because they don't reflect true SOO.

What to do with Tas-QLD-NSW is the problem. Make them a 2nd division and some guys won't ever get to play Vic-SA-WA. Combine them and then no-one really embraces them and they become an exhibition team with no passion. Maybe they play off and then a winner gets to play in a group of 4 knock out with SA-Vic-WA?

Unless they call them Tas-QLD-NSW rather than a generic "Allies" ... The TQNs :D . My other thought is you just spread those 3 states' players around SA-WA-Vic somehow. For the sake of the concept, I could cope if they all ended up in Vic TBH. Just want to see the best players on the park playing each other.

SA vs VIC every year. Best of three games as in the NRL. Lets agree to forget about WA, they can just play Tasmania or whatever floats their boat.

Everyone knows we hate the vics and that they like to take the piss out of us. WA doesn't come into the equation, they can succeed into their own country like they've always wanted, then we can have internationals at the end of the year too

Everybody wins

I feel that SOO should be played between three states WA, SA and Vic and it should be done home and away VIC plays SA and WA twice once at the G and once away at footy park and subiaco and the same for WA and SA. Play it over two weeks and give the league these two weeks off.

If that is the case that is so dumb. Queensland and NSW hate each other! Would be better of for football if they scheduled a State of Origin match between the two instead of making them join together.

The AFL has no idea about a sporting competition. Everything is contrived. Therefore, State of Origin won't work in the long run because it's a fake competition.

I would schedule,

SA vs Vic

NSW vs Qld

WA vs Tas

ACT vs NT (including local league players)

Just for the hell of it I would also have the amatuer leage carnival games played as the curtain raisers and have the AFL pay for it all to promote their league.

Look I just don't think SOO will work. I honestly don't think the clubs are going to support it no matter what some of the coaches are saying now. Remember the problems with the All Australian sides picked recently the players selected were automatic starters for the hybrid games against Ireland. Well what happened quite a few of the players wouldn't play because of numerous reasons so the AFL had to revert to selecting a squad for the Ireland games.

Imagine if you like that Chris Judd transfers to Carlton next year on a $1M a year salary and he is picked to play in the SOO and Carlton are sitting top half way into the season do you think they will be wanting to let him play SOO so that he can do a knee (just like Hall did for SA one year).

Look have a one off SOO game next year for the 150 celebration but then get over it and no more until the 200 year celebration.

I would rather they increased the number of minor round matches to make the competition more even than playing SOO carnivals halfway through the year.

true.... but there are always stacks of injuries in league state of origin.... yet every club supports it... can't really explain why it is so different.... maybe because in league SOO is a major part of selection for the kangaroos test squad, not sure

You can do a knee at training
You can do a knee in a minor round game
You can do a knee in the pre-season
You can do a knee in a final
You can do a knee walking the dog

No more likelihood in a SOO than any other game

Do you stop players from playing normal home-and-away in case they do a knee?

Not an acceptable reason not to play SOO .... it's a weak excuse made up by the clubs

Don't hold back players from the rare opportunity and privilege of representing their state in their chosen sport

Should the SACA hold back Redback players from playing for Australia in case they get injured and then can't play for the Redbacks?

In fact, why would you have any representative teams if you use your logic?

In fact, why did I leave the house this morning .... statistically speaking I could have died in a car accident. memo to self .... stay home tomorrow, I could do my knee (or worse) if I go out
