a free kick just giving for squirting water from a water bottle in the face of an opponent in the geelong v st. kilda match, no wonder it is ballet` footy

Despite arguably over umpiring (consistant but maybe a little harsh in sticking to the rules) yesterdays' game between Dimboola and Horsham Saints I don't think I could go that far and pay a free kick for that!!!! (based on how Bayman has described it)
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I do not have an issue with the free, it's not necessary, and their are heath issues with this practice

Bayman

Do you think squirting a water bottle in someone's face at AFL level was the smartest thing that player has done in his career?

Nothing to do with ballet ... I'd almost give a free for stupidity

i remember (didn't think of it at the time) that mathew golding kicked a goal for glenelg at woodville a few years back & the same thing happened & he got a 2nd kick & kicked a 2nd goal before the ball went back to centre.

i think it is soft paying a free or that, if the umpire saw it & said if you do it again i'll ping you fair enough but if he just squirted him & got pinged it is too harsh a penalty. the ball was at half forward the 'squirting' happened at half back & the umpire after blowing his whistle ran forward explaining why he paid the free, for those with a replay it happened in the last 3 or so minutes of the game

Unless you want to see the players squirting water all the time at each other under-8's style, with a 'two-chances' system, then I don't think the umps have much choice but to ping it on the spot. My first reaction is still - how stupid by the player?????????? Next he'll throw his mouth guard at him, call him a 'great big stupid-head' and then start throwing grass around
