Rumours that the Lakers are chasing LeBron or Melo for 2014.
Should have plenty of salary room by then

No doubt. But I also doubt the two players in question are even giving LA any indication they're a realistic chance. LeBron in particular has really nothing to move for. I think this is just LA talking it up to give fans and potential recruits hope for the future. A little along the lines of "if we start talking about it then it might happen" thinking.

Wouldnt be surprised if Melo went there.
Realistically we are never going to win jack sh!t, we have no cap room to bring in any decent players so we are stuck with the spud squad we have got. Lakers will win another title well before is and I think that will be a strong selling point if we dont get any closer this year

The championship is the only thing I can imagine would be a lure. But also players like Anthony have egos, he might just feel like he can drag New York to the title by himself.
Interesting how LA and LA fans seem so upset with Howard leaving. It's like they drafted him or signed him to a deal and he's left. They knew full well he wasn't likely to stay past last year and took a punt they could convince him. After everything that went on last year I think we all thought he was less likely to sign with them than if he'd stuck with the Magic for that extra year.
Cleveland have signed Bynum. They now have a really solid core and if Bynum gets healthy they could very well be challenging in a couple of years.

Re: NBA
With the solid squad that the Cavs are building what would be the odds of LeBron going home eventually?

I think the moment he left after the decision there was zero chance.

Re: NBA
Lakers have waived Metta World Peace & Chris Duhon and signed Nick Young & Jordan Farmar.
And Kobe is refusing to take a pay cut when he becomes a free agent next offseason:

Also Brooklyn have signed Andrei Kirilenko and Detroit have signed Chauncey Billups.

I thought similar at the time, at least while he was a top liner. You never know when a 38 year old might end up. But persistent chatter seems very often to end up having truth to it. I'd have even said Cleveland were not doing due diligence trying to get him back.

Apart from the waning years when guys can go all over the place, I don't really see him moving on. He's got everything in Miami, what could he possibly move for? Maybe some franchise like New York might stroke the ego and suggest he be the man to succeed where many have failed.

Re: NBA
Trying to pick where player X will end up in the NBA (especially at that age) is just silly.
IF he ended up at the Cavs, it would be the loast year or two IF THAT... which means any drafting/moves the Cavs made or make will mean nothing.

Not even LeBron could get our basket case to the promised land
