Here's some pics I took of the course yesterday. Green fees are $20. Play with a member and they're $10!

I'll see you out there onsonga! I tried to get Bomber Graham to play but he's going away unfortunately. He is a 1 Handicapper.

Don't break him. He is in my club's pennant team  ;)

Found out since he is a 4 handicapper not a 1. Glad he's not in my team I don't want scrubbers.

Balaklava is a quality track, 17 and 18 I would say are the signature holes. 17 a par 4 only 300 or so metres long, dog leg hard right at about 250. If your drive doesn't get to the corner your in trouble. 18 would be one of the toughest fairways to keep your drive on in country sa. The fairway slopes from the middle to both sides, with a slight fade or draw rolling off fairway. And if your off fairway on this hole your in more strife than shapelle Corby!!

Very happy. Haha.

Course was excellent though, great weather too.

Should really lure some SA Footyers out here for a hit some time. Well worth the visit.

Would you be country or metro? Lol

Balaklava Open is on Sunday, August 11. Everyone is more than welcome and I'll be out for a hit.

Until then I probably won't be able to get around any comps as they're on Saturdays.

Otherwise, it could be done on a Sunday. I'm a member so green fees would only be $10.

according to Golf SA I'm Metro (unless we are playing State of origin ;) ) after they awarded me, one bloke from North Lakes and 1 from Penfield the teams event at Last years Sand Greens Championships.

Could be tempting the open day....

How does it go?

I bought a Nike VRS like this one: http://www.mygolfspy.com/nike-vrs-driver-review/ except mine is a 9.5 degree.

Cost me $250 but gee it has been great. Should have been on a stiff shaft all along.*

from the testing I did with it, it is a very nice club. As it is a birthday present I don't get it for a few more days so hanging to have a hit on course with it.

I really noticed the difference with a stiff shaft compared to the regular. My hands were getting almost in front of the ball on impact which was creating a god awful slice with the odd decent shot.

Will report back after a couple of rounds with it.

Played Wirrina on holiday Monday.
It was nice having a private course for the 4 of us, well nearly. We only saw 1 other cart out there.
$25 got us a round, cart and beer each.
Course it good nick really, with only 2 greens a bit dodgy, and also greens being hard to read. Some soft, some firm, but then again, I can't putt anyway.
Had 35 points, including 8, yes 8 putts lip out.

Anyone possibly free this coming Sunday for a 4BBB comp at The Vines of Reynella? $44 entry (or $12 if you are a member there) tee off is 8:30am.

Let me know by PM if you are interested.

Cheers.

Played Pt Augusta for the first time last Saturday. It was quite nice and the course layout was good. The club championships were on in the afternoon so the pin locations were very hard and the greens were very quick. Would play there again in a heartbeat

just got back from 9 holes at The Vines

First hole i hit a drive slightly left along the tee line

i see this old pensioner wandering across from the 18th checking out a few of the balls that are on the 1st fairway, and im assuming he may have hit one over

anyway he gets to a ball and im thinking this is where i hit mine

he knocks it about 50m not even attempting to hit it towards the 18th green or back onto the 18th fairway

i get to the ball and yes its mine

I asked him why did he hit my ball?

his answer is he just wanted to have a hit of a ball, thinking he was saying it was his, i said perhaps you should mark your balls in future.

then he says, he didnt see me tee off

well you old ******* dickhead, you didnt see me tee off or walking to my ball because at no ******* time did you ever look in my direction

Just submitted the 3 as organisers had a couple to add to teams. Been moved to Flaggy now as there was a mix up between them and the vines.

Looking forward to it as I haven't played there but heard only good things about it
