Yet another SANFL conspiracy against Norwood. When will it end?

So you all believe Davies what did the clubs put in writing ??? maybe they said p@$s OFF zilch interest by most of the SANFL purists for this Mickey Mouse comp lets have a poll on here to get a true reflection a simple yes or no will suffice my vote is NO FOXTEL CUP scrap it is a non event.

So when was Norwood officially informed about the date they would be playing?

Answer my own question. Norwood have known since September last year according to the SANFL. Before the SANFL fixture was released. 8 months.

They knew it was a Tuesday night but thats not what the argument is about. Their scheduling gives it away, surely if they knew we would be playing prior to the bye and not after it they wouldn't have been so stupid to schedule us a Saturday night game, 72 hours prior to us playing again and expect us to pick a full strenght side.

It doesnt really matter what the WAFL clubs knew about it as they have a different fixture. Everyone knew it was a Tuesday night its how it worked it with our local fixture which was the point Bass made.

Surely it is better to play this game and have 11 days before their next SANFL game rather than play on the Tuesday after the bye and have only a 4 day break

everyone on forums wanted some sort of club championship.... now everyone is against it. WTF!

It has to involve more than a SA v VFA?VFL game because other states play (and sometimes win) the game. Without TV money there wont be any interstate club playoff - either embrace it or lose it.

The Foxtel Cup draw has been out for a long time. If today's article is correct (which I have reason to doubt it is) then Norwood will just continue to look foolish.

The season so far has thrown up its fair share of challenges. This week we face another new test, backing up playing South at Noarlunga on Saturday night with a game against East Fremantle three days later in the FOXTEL Cup.
When we agreed to play it wasn’t the format that was put to the club. The FOXTEL Cup game was meant to be played following a bye; we would then play our next SANFL game on the Sunday. For the players it sounded like enough rest with FOXTEL Cup games only being 20 minute quarters, the game equating to a strenuous training session. To back up three days later though is a much tougher ask.
I can’t and won’t be asking some of our senior players to back up to play on Tuesday. The season is a long one and to ask Brett Zorzi, Ben Warren and Kieran McGuinness to play would be too much; some have already told me as much. For players who are managing ongoing injuries or who are in danger of overuse injuries they will need to be rested as well. We will however pick the strongest team possible of who is available.
It could be worse though, we could be East Fremantle, who are also playing on Saturday and travel on the day of the game (I’m assuming here, I don’t think accommodation costs would be picked up for two nights). There will be two teams out there of some description and one will walk away a winner.
We have introduced lots of new faces to league football in 2013. Luke Wilson, Sam Baulderstone, Craig Evans, Trent Dumont, Liam Davis and Kristian Roocke (picked, not filling in) have all played their first games for Norwood this year. Peter Persinos, Mark Evans, Ed Smart, Mitch Grigg, Kane Murphy, and Andrew Kirwan have all added some more league games to their totals and are gaining valuable experience. Then there is Ben Jefferies.
Ben has been terrific so far this year, going from a role player to becoming one our best performing and most consistent league footballers. With the positive learning environment that I believe we have I know some of the men listed above will soon join Ben. Tim Webber, Jace Bode, James Aish, Josh Donohue, Bryce Campbell, Michael Newton and Sam Baulderstone should all return over the next five weeks, giving myself and the club confidence that we have a lot of improvement left in us.
Our greatest challenge at the moment is the players getting to know and trust each other. Over the first six weeks we have looked very good at times, whilst at others we look slow and boring. This week there will be some changes made so that the group can gain some trust from the people around them, whilst we are likely to add some speed and enthusiasm at selection.

If anyone actually bothered to read the Blog put out by Bassett he is frustrated with the fact that the SANFL knew it was a Tuesday night game then made the fixture for Norwood a Saturday night game.
I know South don't have Friday night games due to the inconvenience of getting to Noarlunga, but surely if the SANFL wanted its clubs to put their best foot forward they would have worked the schedule better.

Funnily enough no one has mentioned the Fact that west have a Friday night game!!!!

Im not saying its something directly against Norwood, but common sense should have been used.

In the end Bassett should have said nothing and picked the side as he liked and nothing would have been done.

Yeah so whats the point? I think we all agree. Im just saying if the SANFL always intended it that way why schedule us a Saturday night game. Just seems strange.
