Yep .. Other than on the scoreboard Port were vastly more superior than a 9 point win would suggest

They were the better side all game, had they kicked straight in the second they wouldnt have been 31 points down. A couple of easy misses to Walker go the other way and the Crows could have stolen a game that they never deserved to win! They showed some class when they could have been cocky too, Wingard could have easily given it to Vince after his 50 and goal, instead he celebrated with his team, I even saw Ollie Wines help Dangerfield up off the ground after a stoppage, two champions you have right there! Some players have to annoy their opponent to win a contest and others just do it with class, these boys have the latter. As much as I hate to say it I will enjoy watching Power games this season if they go about it like that.

Port really take the game on these days and their skill level, particularly by foot has improved put of sight around the ground (obviously could tidy up in front of goal on yesterday's effort)

Agreed

Port look a completely different unit this season. Kudos Ken Hinkley.

I wonder if Matty Primus now realises how poor a coach he really was now...
Amazing what can happen if you let players attack and be rewarded for hard running..

I work with the girlfriend of one of Ports new coaching staff and she told me a story which says abit about what Ken Hinkley is trying to do.

It was his first week at the club and Hinkley used the toilet down in the changerooms. Apparently the toilet roll dispenser was empty and a spare toilet roll had been left on the floor underneath it. After doing his business he walked out with the toilet roll that had been left on the floor. He stopped training and brought all the players and staff in together.

He then went on to say how while it was only a little/tiny thing that it was a sign of disrespect for the changerooms, the club, his teammates who would use it next etc etc and that its a matter of changing a thousand little things which will earn the club respect. Obviously he would have said the spill alot more inspirationaly than my post but you can kind of get the message.

Norwood had something similar in place for their U17s and 19s, if you didnt stack the cones neatly or put the water bottles back in the container etc you were penalised as a group.

yeah Central use to have a rule where if players just dropped the water bottles on the floor rathen than give them to the drinks stewards they were some sort of punishment.

but yeah everything i have heard about Hinkley seems like he is a man that commands respect and gives the same back.

Ollie Wines busting up Dangerfield. Highlight of my day....along with Walker missing some sitters.
No, actually the highlight of my day was watching Adelaide struggle for 3 1/2 quarters (they had a patch early in the second) to break out of Ports defensive zone.
When we scored it was almost inevitable that we would get another shot or opportunity to produce a score attempt within a minute or two.
Hinkley has stressed all summer that defence is about the whole team defending, not just the back 6 and clearly the group has embraced this.
We also gave Sloane, Dangerfield and Thompson no room to move at contests and stiffled any run they may have been able to generate. McKay then got no ball to generate run from the back.

Boak was fantastic from the first bounce to the finish winning the ball, clearing, creating run and kicking 3 goals. The skipper has taken the next step IMO. Hartlett is looking fit and strong, Monfries has been a good addition and Westhoff was, once again, outstanding.

He's now listed as 199cm and 96kg, three years ago he was 90kg. He still covers the ground better than most his height and now that little bit of extra muscle along with a super fitness base is making him a very difficult match up.

Interesting to note that Sanderson had at times 2 or 3 behind the ball in the first quarter. Not usually his style I wouldn't think?

If we get an injury at training maybe. I think the only change will be Gray in for Mitchell

They won't drop Mitchell. I have been at both games and watched the round 1 game live and he won't be dropped. He is an impact X factor and he is giving us something everytime he comes on. He gut runs his ass off both ways and breaks lines regularly. Must play and I love seeing him come on as the sub. Real find 8)

Stood next to the Hoff at the NAB cup and was actually taken back by how much bigger he looks. It's easy to forget he's 6 foot 6ish and now has some body mass yet has retained the aerobic capacity of a midfielder. He will still have his scruffy days you would assume but I think he is a real barometer for our improvement. How good would it be for him to see the ball flying first option and the abandonment of that vomit producing, pancreatic spasm inducing chippy sideways and backwards crap.
One thing is for certain Ken can Coach, Primus probably not so much

Unfortunately Wristy, he is back at WWT whether Ken likes it or not. Downgraded to a rookie as salter is off the long term injury list.

I did hear Alan Richardson talk about the possibility of him being upgraded again after round 11 or 12? at the expense of a senior listed player when you can make 1 mid season change to your list. Will have to play good footy in the meantime but if that is the case he is the logical upgrade from our rookies.

WTF, sad Wristy :( The misses who is a mad spastic Crows supporter actually said she thought he changed the game. Hopefully we can be like a big Victorian club and bend the rules to our benefit. He'd be in my 21 every game this year if fit.
