REB why do you say that im sure the only hype is coming from the media the blues have a way to go mate and the players know it.....but now that ratten has gone we may go a little better we may not only time will tell....and as for the mickey mouse cup who gives a **** anyway only fools think if you do well in it you will do well in the home n away season....

Recent history suggests otherwise.

2012 Adelaide - top four
2011 Collingwood - Grand Finalist
2010 Western Bulldogs - Top 4
2009 - Geelong - Premier

The 'tsunami of hype' I was referring to would be what we would have gotten if Carlton won this game. I believe Carlton's list problem has not been resolved and the Blues might take a while to adjust to the Malthouse gameplan.

Foot skills from what I saw were carp though.. that's worrying.

Pre season. Nothing more. Nothing less. Outplayed by a more desperate team. That is all. Reserve judgement for the season proper.

Brisbane are the better prepared side at the moment. They've got Jonno Brown up front and Merrit down back and a pretty handy midfield although someone mentioned pace. They ran pretty hard tonight. Geelong and Hawthorn's midfield in recent seasons is not all that fast and they've done OK. In the ruck they have Luey to come back as well as Martin (a handy recruit for mine) and the developing Longer. They'll make the eight I reckon.

As for the Blues Juddy certainly needed the run and they missed the crumbing capabilities of Gartlett. A loss at this stage is a better result for Carlton as a meaningless NAB cup win could have papered over some cracks. The comments about Murphy in this thread are a bit harsh and antoher postive is the improvement of Armfield who has some mongrel in him to assist Robbo. Kane Lucas looks ready to join the midfield rotation. Their first four games are pretty tough and this is the most important Carlton v Richmond opener yet as far as both clubs are concerned. There is only room for one of these teams in the eight.

Bit sensitive already. Going to be a long season.

Offer something constructive. Reaction desperate post once again. Meaningless drivel posts are your specialty.

Have said many times without a kp forward and defender, you aren't much good, but you won't listen. Not my fault.

completely agree.

Lucas still makes too many mistakes. He's the next Jordan Russell the way he's going. Gets plenty of it but his 25 odd possessions tonight were only mediocre.

Brisbane were the better side last night no doubt. There should be concerns from Carlton fans regarding their forward set-up though. Without Waite in that side it does leave a gaping deficiency as to where their goals will come from.

Lucas needs more time in VFL.

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]
