Doggies4eva it is a moot point because it won't happen. Mcloeds knee problems are known to everyone in the AFL so he has no relative trade value. No club would seriously consider a trade involving McLoed because they know he has a limited shelf life as an AFL footballer.

Only way he will play AFL footy for another club is if the Crows delist him and h is picked up for nothing in the PSD.

Thats not the point. You don't trade your club champions - ever. No way would we ever trade the Gowans. They will play for us until they are ready to hang up the boots.

Thats all well and good when teh best way to get quality players is to ensure high picks in each draft. When you have a free reign to recruit from interstate you can afford to be more sentimental.

AFL clubs operate under stricter recruiting rules than SANFL clubs so they can't be as sentimental.

As I said before though, it is a moot point (trading of McLoed) because it ain't going to happen.

I wouldn't be so dismissive. I was speaking to a keen Crows supporter today who watches every game that told me McLeod was in as good a form as he has ever seen him.

Same thing I think. The way that they play the game it must be hard on their bodies but the club has been able to convince them to play on. I am hoping the boost that we got to the midfield by way of recruiting this year will enable them to keep playing a leadership role. They have had a lot of weight on their shoulders recently with their new role as voluntary umpire coaches.

Its a good story with this lad, 9 months ago was playin pretty average in Centrals reserves, now hes commanded his place in the Crows first 22. U couldnt pick Maric ahead of him now. Well done lad!

With Biglands back in 2008, the good form of Hudson and Griffen's rapid development, I'm forecasting limited opportunities for Maric and Meesen, unless Griffen starts to play more as a key forward

Like most young draftee's from interstate, they will be chasing an opportunity, and with Tippett also on the list as a development player, I can't see the crows holding on to all these young ruckman

weight of numbers and lack of opportunities will force a trade opportunity

As you can read, I did not put a value on their heads, but given the lack of depth with young ruckman at some victorian clubs, including Collingwood, Melbourne, Saints and Carlton, just to name a few, I am confident both players would attract some interest, especially Maric

Meesen, clubs would probably need to gamble on his success at the U/18 level

My understanding is Maric is out of contract at the end of the year, while Meesen is contracted for next year

Maric is engaged or married or going out (forget which) with Erin Phillips, Greg Phillips' daughter and terrific basketballer
