Cant wait to see the young lads have a crack this weekend. Im looking forward to seeing the second year players mainly and their development after 2 pre seasons.

In particular:
Ellis Yolmen - big raps, reckon he could play similar to Goodes (big bodied midfielder)
Crouch - see how this kid matches up against the big boys
Brown - can he take Doggas possie at HBF
Laird - havent heard much about him but heard he has a crack

Hartigan - apparently been training down the house

I like Jarrad Lyons, I reckon he will make a classy little on baller in the next few years. Good depth for us this year as well. Great to see big Joshy Jenkins showing his skills. Needs to focus more when having a set shot. Mckernan is a dud though, wont ever make it at AFL level.

Bad news about Brodie Smith

A good first hit out for the young lads and they responded well in the 2nd game. Our defensive structures held up well and most of Port's goals came from our turn overs, dont think they took to many marks inside 50.

Love the attack on the ball from Riley and Kerrige, Luke Brown looks like he can slot straight in aswell. Big Joshy Jenkins starting to look and move like a footballer now too and Matty Wright looks like he is going to improve on his great 2012 season.

Ellis Yolmen for me was a standout as well, moved well across half back.

Mitch Grigg was pretty good as well I thought, silky left boot. DMac was great off half back.

Who gets first shot at Brodie Smiths spot? I would love Rory Laird to get a crack but he will need to be upgraded and I dont think there is a spot available. Grigg, Brown or Tambling I guess

Id say Brown/Tambling/Ellis Yolman will take Dogga and now Smith's spot, rory was ok but seemed a bit to raw atm. Dmac will play off HBF id like to see Lyons take a wing/HBF as well.

Also, I liked the way Hartigan crashed a couple of packs.

McKernan was a worrying sign he is terrible, so good recruiting with the signing of Graham who can back sauce up.

I think Brodie smith was more set for wing/midfield this year, lucky we have 10 HB flankers

Yeah saw it. Matty wright played one half and had about 18 disposals I think.
Callinan looked good in the second half. Dangerfield was his old self. Smashing in like crazy, but heat have too change his ways as he gave two free kicks away for taking out the legs. Tex looked a bit scratchy. We will find more about how their going on Saturday

Josh Jenkins has booked his spot for round 1. There is something to like about Ellis-Yolmans too and think is a silly chance to play round 1 also across half back.

Yep ellis-Yolmen is looking like he will develop into a more than handy player. Some of his handballs in congestion were awesome and he is a decent size as well.

Cam won't play round 1. He is playing that third tall defender. And he is behind Luke Thompson and Sam shaw
The flankers is a harder decision
You have tambling, Reilly, brown, jaensch, otten and Mackay. Only 3 of those can be HB flankers and there is also Smith to comeback.
Good amount of depth in defence
