McCracken Homes in a ton of trouble ...

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/business/ ... 6585333699

ADELAIDE builder McCracken Homes has stopped trading, leaving almost 20 homes unfinished amid fears it may spark another round of home-builder collapses.

The directors are looking to appoint an administrator to formally close the business, a move expected to terminate 13 jobs.

It is the second business to fold in the McCracken Group, which in 2010 expected to build 380 homes.

Its portable home division, Red Ochre Homes, went into administration last June with bank debts of $1.7 million and another $3.1 million owed to unsecured creditors.

Director Charlie Siciliano was reluctant to comment.

"At the moment we haven't gone into liquidation or administration, but it's a bit of a tough time," he said. "We are just waiting for the right advice and the meeting."

In an email sent to clients, Mr Siciliano confirmed the business was closing.

"McCracken Homes has stopped trading and are awaiting advice, I need to update you on the options, remember that you have indemnity insurance to cover completion of your home," the email says.

The wife of a company owner, who would not identify herself, said "We haven't (stopped trading) yet, nothing is official at this stage."

Builders are required to carry insurance to cover their clients if the company collapses or the builder disappears or dies.

Rumours have been rife about this company for years. Looks like they have finally fallen.

Good idea Julia to call an election at the start of the year for September so it brings uncertainty and low confidence in any projects or funding for areas like health, education and construction.

With a change of government highly likely ......no one knows WTF is going to happen with a new government and the funding they are going to spend!!!

Your a brillant PM and looking after Australia's best interests!!!!
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

There will be an election before September and Gillard will be gone by then ... hopefully sooner rather than later

not in SA but

Brisbane is in desperate need for a second runway. ANd there is a shit fight over who is going to pay for it and who has the rights to do what.

We have been told it will take 8 years to complete the second runway, for whatever reason it is going to take that long. But major fight from both state and federal governments on to getting it done.

If you are at the point of trading only to get out of the shit, the writing is on the wall.
