Swans offer Tippett $3.5m, 4-year deal

SYDNEY has offered Kurt Tippett a four-year deal that will earn the 25-year-old just over $3.5 million should he reach the premiership side.
The Swans have also offered Tippett a conditional two-year extension for seasons 2017 and 2018, but his hearing before the AFL Commission next week may jeopardise the bid.
It has been revealed that Sydney's pitch to Tippett included payments of $700,000 for next year and $900,000 for 2014, before improving to $975,000 for seasons 2015 and 2016. The two-year extension would be triggered, worth just under $2 million, if the former Adelaide full-forward played 20 games in each of the first four seasons.
Tippett is facing a fine, suspension and could possibly be deregistered for his part in the three-year contract extension he signed with Adelaide in late 2009.

The Queenslander, whose lawyer wrote to the AFL this week requesting he be delisted and able to sign with the Swans as a free agent, has been charged with engaging in conduct prejudicial to the draft and breaching the AFL's total player payment rules.
Adelaide agreed in writing to trade the then 43-game player to the club of his choice for a minimum second-round choice at the end of his next contract, and underwrote $200,000 worth of third-party payments.
The Crows, chief executive Steven Trigg, football manager Phil Harper and former football boss John Reid are also facing charges for their role in the alleged breaches.
Tippett shocked the Crows by requesting a trade to Sydney rather than Gold Coast or the Brisbane Lions after Adelaide fell out of this year's finals series, but his trade fell over after the Crows confessed to the AFL that it had made the secret deal three years ago.
On Tuesday, Tippett's lawyer, David Galbally, had not heard from the AFL in response to his request to have Tippett delisted and eligible for the free agency period, which runs from November 23-28.
While Greater Western Sydney has also expressed interest in Tippett, his best chance of becoming a Swan appears to be via the preseason draft on December 11.
The deadline for listed, out-of-contract players to nominate for the pre-season draft is November 28, two days before the commission hearing.
Provided Adelaide can delist Tippett after the hearing - the Crows have not yet been allowed to do so by the AFL, pending the investigation and next week's hearing - Tippett could nominate instead as a delisted player by the December 4 cut-off.

Adelaide have withdrawn from tomorrows draft as a "gesture of goodwill" towards the AFL in resolving the matter

if tippo gets a 25 match ban with half suspended as is the rumour, surely any club would be reluctant to draft him??

It may also mean Sydney re consider their intention to draft him, GWS would snap him up in that case.

Let's see. Tippett to end up at the reigning premiers and Adelaide to get slapped on the wrist with a wet lettuce leaf because Port are rubbish.

But the club has to accept the amount and they may think his price and missing x amount of games isnt worth it

That number will be lowered if he is suspended.

If/when picked up he will miss the first 11 games and is $50 000 lighter.

I still fail to see why Kurt Tippett is worth the kind of money they're throwing at him.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Sydney should walk away from him ... he's not worth even half the money that's been bandied around.

Let him sit out a year and maybe he might reset his salary expectations.
