Re: 2013 Foxtel Cup
The Foxtel Cup is probably as good now as it is going to get.
Max 3 games is an easier commitment for a club to handle.
Just two sides from each league means less dislocation to the overall league fixture.
This stuff is getting sorted out earlier than before which means less delay in league fixture.
Having the "developing" league teams have to play a wild card game to make the top 8 (who had that idea I wonder) means the standard of games played should be better.

The Rox Off Cup...... where ego manic coaches drag their clubs through meaningless matches in the hope they can crack an AFL gig, despite their personalities!

Still not in favour of this comp .... what is the point of it ?
I will never trust anything the AFL supports along side State Leagues, what are their real motives ?

so if Norwood win and make the club $100k your still not in favor??
or even make the final and make $40k!!
plus as fester says, the chance for the boys/supporters to potentially play on the G!
i do notice that the 2 AFL club owned clubs in the Brissy lions and Geelong arent taking part. has this been the case in the past?

If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.

Re: 2013 Foxtel Cup
From http://www.norwoodfc.com.au/News/LATEST ... ELCUP.aspx
"It is anticipated that competing teams will have a bye in their State League competition on the weekend before and will follow up with a Sunday match after the Tuesday Foxtel Cup match."
When did footballers get so soft? Not like the good old days ... play on a Saturday, butter up Tuesday night on a bog at Norwood or Thebby or maybe even get on a plane and take on a VFL team at Waverley, then have four days to recover before your next domestic game.

For the record Port Melbourne never wear an away jumper.... so Norwood better pack the red if they are drawn to play each other.

Re: 2013 Foxtel Cup
Tuesday Nights .... am improvement on Saturday Mornings I think
At least it explains why the AFL reserves sides (Geelong & Brisbane) are not it it.
Be interesting to see how Crows / Power will like their surplus players competing on a Tuesday night
for Norwood / West if they could possibly play Saturday in AFL.
Also I wonder what level of venues they will use.
ie its not a curtain raiser anymore so regardless of venue the camera's need to be set up.
obviously needs to be a venue with TV quality lights
Not sure if Norwood or Westies are up to that level so it will probably stay at AAMI

Re: 2013 Foxtel Cup
Norwood's are the only lights, other than Pleurisy Park, with a lux level at telecast quality Phil.
'People are not stupid. They know when they are being conned. And two reserves teams operating in a League competition will reduce it to a farce, a competition without a soul.'

The Norwood oval lights are up to TV spec unlike the Dolphin torch lights at Richmond Oval.
