All it does is increase the chance of mental and physical fatigue.

agree wholeheartedly! clubs usually have two weeks off over xmas when that happens anyway where, unless blokes are supremely comitted, drink and eat way to much and dont touch the running shoes. we've started early januray the last two years with a BBQ b4 xmas and that has worked really really well as we've had solid numbers from the word go.

im surprised to see you pop your head up on here watchy, thought the missus would have you neck deep in wedding plans? :P

how many finals did u play in last year if it worked realy realy well for you?

 Considering CLG are in a re-build, for their A grade to just miss the finals and their B grade to make the GF in 2012- with the planned introduction of a c grade side in 2013 .....id say thinks are working very well for the lions in terms of numbers on the track (which is what BFG referred to in his post!)

Im sure Zwecky and the A grade squad will consider finals an absolute must next season. CC- Maybe consider that general progression and growth within a club is sometimes better than flying through the grades and falling twice as fast...something that woodville south have experience in doing.

and you are ? let me answer that for u , not the person i directed the question at

Absolutely correct. If you don't have a solid foundation of blokes throughout your club falling through the divs is a real possibility.

Need a number of committed players across both grades and across different ages. If you rely on too many mercenaries or blokes of a certain age, when they leave/retire it can rip the heart out of the team. Trust me Kilburn knows about this.

Setting the foundation for going up can actually be more important than fluking a few finals wins.

well said big fella..

My favourite thing about football is when a club bags the crap out of a team by calling them old and saying they won't win the flag and that team win the premiership, Colonel light gardens are getting a C grade team nexy year , is this where all the loud mouth supporters on grand final day are going to play next year , funny bagging a team that is 6 goals ahead with 5 minutes to play in a grand final.

"In other List Management news the Club is pleased to announce that Jarred Allmond, Matthew Jacquier, Jarrod Harding and Glenn Dawson have returned to the Club for Season 2013."

winners are grinners madcatter..

i think most teams exchange banter and i am sure you guys probably called our lads soft and weak during the year..and our lads said you were old and slow..we had 3 great games with your team before the GF and we had come out on top every time..but you won when it counted and proved experience does mean a lot in a GF :)

the "bagging" looked like it was directed at 1-2 players not the whole team..they gave as good as they got as well..and had the medals to show it! :)

good luck this year in div 5

how many finals did u play in last year if it worked realy realy well for you?

To answer your first question i was referring to the numbers we had on the track at the start of pre season. while we didn't play finals this year we were .5% away and if we'd have won on the last day we would've had a home final.
the fact we maintained good numbers throughout the year on the track was important for us because its something we've struggled with in recent years. That's what i was referring to more than how many finals we played etc.

haha i was one of those blokes actually. surely getting stuck into the opposition is all part of the fun on GF day, no matter what the score or time to go. but like zed said, congrats on the two flags.

Back in 08 the CLG boys finished top and got on the piss at the Qualifying Final and were giving it to us big time because WOS were well on top of us. We fought back though and got up to win by 2pts I think it was. Then travelled to CLG the next week in the 2nd semi final with their words still ringing strong. WOS and HV went up that year, CLG out in straight sets! I reckon if they could have their time again they would have all gone and played golf while the QF was being played.

They are only words at the end of the day, but sometimes it can come back and bite you on the ass - BIG TIME..

I can confirm as of 2pm today no one had matched the $1000 / game Mr Bourke is rumoured to be on. Hence he is set to stay a Ram for 2013. No coach appointed as yet but I would say by end of next week they will have one confirmed.

Heard on the grapevine that the Rams interviewed both Shayne Mitchell & Josh Coulter.
