ROK was all over Hawthorn, wanted out of Sydney, had to move to Melbourne for lifestyle reasons, etc, etc
Then 3 weeks later he was still stuck at Sydney because Sydney rightly played hardball with Hawthorn who were pinching one of their best players but didn't want to give anything decent up for him.
Yeah but he is out of contract isnt he? if he doesnt make it to sydney and adelaide play hard ball off to the PSD ala nick stevens... or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Pretty sure thats right. Then he nominates his salary and then the team that picks him has to pay him that amount. Id say if he went to the PSD, he would have to drop his asking rate substantially to get some nibbles. Or if he keeps the amount high, it could mean everyone overlooks him until Sydneys pick, and they get him without having to pay Adelaide compensation.

Well, the difference here is how the Adelaide media and some douche bag fans have carried on. If the deal falls through, he won't be staying, he'll nominate for the draft and GWS will grab him... if not then Gold Coast.

Who knows anymore. The whole draft process is a joke now, much like alot of other things the AFL controls.
I thought you were not allowed to put a price on your services* in this manner?

I didn't know they had put a stop to it but they should, it's absolute bullsh!t.

Or run the risk of Adelaide re-drafting him if they can meet his salary demands which they might not be far away form. If that scenario played out GCS would be a big chance to take him anyway, so I don't think the big fella would be too upset.

I think they might have stopped in the "normal" draft but is allowed in the pre-season draft. If I remember correctly it is because Shannon Grant nominated a salary to try and stop himself getting drafted interstate.
Well according to Sydney, he will be getting played less next year than what he would if he stayed at Adelaide. Must be a nice back ended contract. However would this mean that he wouldn't be able to put to higher a price on his head otherwise Sydney might not be able to fit him in or can they also stipulate the length of the contract as well as price?

I agree too many bridges have been burned here in Adelaide.
Kurt's manager said GWS have no interest in him as they already have talls in Cameron and Patton.
GCS are the lurkers here and while the PSD prospect does more harm to Adelaide than Sydney if Sydney want him as badly as they seem to then they lose out as well. Kurt would lose out in playing for 17th ranked GCS rather than the premiers but he'd probably just live with it given the likely paycheck.
Sydney are going to have to do more than offer Jesse White.

Adelaide redrafting him would be more of a "that ****** you, didnt it?" move than anything else. I dont think anyone involved at the club and would be a massive waste of money just to stick it up one bloke. If he stayed in Adelaide, I reckon he'd be more of a fringe player now he has shown how commited he is to the club. If he doesnt want to be there, dont pay him massive amounts of money to stay. Nothing good will come of that.

I agree with you, but you never know with the AFL clubs, they'll do mostly anything to get a player they (rightly or wrongly) believe to be quality .. As you've said I doubt it would ever happen, not a great thing for the culture of the club to have a bloke on your list that the whole world knows doesn't want to be there.

Crows would be very cautious about drafting another Gold coast (Southport) dude.
If they'd offer Grundy as a straight swap that would be perfect.

Tommy Mitchell and pick 22 will get done. Great deal for the crows. Tommy is a gone. And SOS said GWS would have taken him in the first 5 last year. If he was not father son
