1970 is my first memory
A friend, who barracked for Carlton, came around to have a kick-to-kick at half time.
So we went out, I pretended I was Collingwood, just so I could be the winner.
We lost track of time and came home, just in time for Jesaulenko's goal to dribble through.
Coming back from 44 points, in those days, was unheard of. Double it for modern footy
and you get the idea.
I wasn't too displeased about St Kilda losing the 1971 decider until I found out, some years later
that they had a decent lead at 3/4 time and let it go. Typical STK squib.
My first GF that I attended was the 1977 draw.
My mate and I didn't hear the siren as Shane Bond ran past us bouncing the ball.
Saw the 1978, 1982 and 1983 Grand finals live and haven't been back since.
Probably never will.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Putting aside Collingwood, the 89 was probably the best GF I can remember.

If you wanted to script a GF, you would watch it day in and day out.
To see one guy take on the other team was sensational.
It was Ablett at his absolute greatest.

Just about to go to bed and the '89 GF comes on the marathon.

Bruce Linder just made a great dash from half-back. If only he played at his brilliant best more often.

"Ladies and gentlemen, you've just seen a classic."
- Dennis Commetti.

Hopefully tomorrow's directors watched this for a refresher on how a game should be covered...

I was at the game, my first GF and it was a great day bar the results. Cats lost the 19s by a point, drew the magoos and, of course, lost the main game. The magoos got smashed the following week

'95 the Blues machine owning Geelong in one of the most sided GF's ever despite the margin not being the greatest.

Didnt the Blues kick the first 5 or so goals.

Another great memory was how boring the Essendon vs Melbourne GF was!!!

Apart from Essendon fans its almost the 'forgotten' GF

Same with 88', which after the hype of the 87's Prelim between the Hawks and Dees, was an absolute snoozefest.
