I think, basically - please correct me if im wrong

Restricted 8 years with one club - can look at offers from other clubs - current club has option to match offer.

Unrestricted 10 years with one club - can leave to any offer from any club

Sounds about right Scoob, except I thought Restricted F/A was 6 or 7 years

Yes, certain he'll have interest unless Mighty Mick tells him straight off the bat that he's definitely in the plans.

Think he's left the club.

Restricted is 8 years.

You can also be unrestricted if at the club 8 or 9 years, out of contract and not in the top 10% paid at the club

Would like Richmond to chase Chris Knights, completely forget about Chaplin and trade for Alex Silvagni from Fremantle.

The rumors would suggest it's a done deal but if true about being in rooms, he perhaps should have wished Ross and co. best of luck in a more private setting.

Didn't mind Paul Bower as a player - would Malthouse have made the call on him already? - and will be interested to see if he's picked up by someone else.

Bomber Thompson confirmed tonight that Essendon has made him an offer.
Doubt we will get him, Essendon are usually fairly miserley with their offers

It's been suggested that a team has offered him 800k a year. Not sure who though

That is us I believe Turbo.
Have offered a 4 year $800k deal, was told we originally offered 4x$650k and the Saints wont budge on a 3x$650k deal. Freo was in the mix but apparantly wants to stay in Victoria. Rumours that he met with Hird and some of the board today.
Essendon have stated they will be very active at trade period this year and have plenty of salary cap room, I think we have trageted Goddard, Caddy and Maloney.

Maybe just me but don't rate Caddy as a player. May end up being a solid contributor but don't feel he will be a star so it's going to be interesting as I'm sure Gold Coast won't give him away as such all the same.

Well doesn't this get interesting. That is massively over what the saints have offered him. If he's after some coin then you've got him, unless he wants to work with Lyon again and that is the big question mark.
Don't reckon you'll get caddy. It'll come down to draft pick order and availability.
Reckon Richmond may be in the box seat, bulldogs maybe if he wants to lose for the next few seasons. You guys are likely to be forced to use your first pick on daniher father/son as he is deemed to be a top 5 pick. Funny things can happen though and I reckon that this October is going to have a few surprises.

Not the Bombers offer. Hird confirmed this in an interview today

Yeah did hear that interview.
He wont end up with us none of our key targets ever do.
Our best hope is that he wants to stay in Victoria but Footscray will probably trump us like they did with Akermanis
