Big call.

Mate the Lions had everything. 3 flags in a row and 4 gf's after 2000 is nothing short of phenomenal. Got the most of their talent.

Hawthorn 1983-1991. 9 years, 8 grand finals, 5 flags.

Now that Sheedy has signed for another year id imagine Williams would move on.
Bit of a tosser but would clean out a fair bit of the deadwood and rid the club of the pea hearts

You're comparing Apples with Oranges. Brisbane had to travel interstate every second week, work within a salary cap and build a team through the draft. Three in row in the modern is nothing short of phenomenal, not even allowing for the travel factor.

In regards to Roos saying he'd not coach next year here are some things I've heard coaches say in previous years;
*Mark Thompson say he's lost the passion and walking away
*Neil Craig once he's done coaching Adelaide he'd walk away from the game
*Mick Malthouse change his stance on coaching next year 3 times in the last 2 weeks.

For Mick to say he doesn't know what his agent is doing is a load of BS. For once I'd love to hear a journo reply "if your player manager doesn't keep in touch with you daily on the potential of your future mate I'd suggest you find another agent"
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Some clubs need a key forward, some clubs need a ruckman, some clubs need some pacey outside midfielders.
I haven't exactly scoured Carlton's list, but they don't appear to be missing a key component on field.

Judd, Murphy, Scotland, Gibbs, McLean are a great bunch of mids, most of whom can sneak forward and kick goals.
Waite, Walker, Betts, Gartlett are a good forward line, combining height, goal nous and pace.
Kreuzer is a very good ruck, and Casaboult seems a very likely longterm player.

They seem to have the cattle, maybe not with premiership polish, but finals should have been a given.

I don't know if sacking Ratten is the right way to go, but his side should have achieved more this year.

I've never heard Neil Craig say he wouldn't be involved with the AFL again - but I did hear him say he might be an Assistant, but not in a main roaching role. He hasn't contradicted that in what he's done at Melbourne.

The forward line is the problem. Waite is a hack, they need a genuine power forward who can draw the foooty (Cloke).

Collingwood says hello. The AFL took hold of all the previous premierships won by the current clubs. Give up on this arguement it is long winded and a load of B.S. The current VFL was the former VFA so your arguement again is knocked back. Move on and I am not even a Collingwood supporter.

Back OT please

Ive said it for years, Carlton have no height or strength in their defence, Ratten knew this and didnt recruit to assist, they are a great side when attacking but no to little defence doesnt win you flags.

Also have said 2 year contracts are crap, it has to be either 1 year (to win a flag) or 3 years (to develop a group) 2 years gives no message, the last 2 coaches appointed on 2 year deals didnt last thru 1 (Williams and Ratten) and only end up costing their clubs $$ in payouts.

Its the small forwards that have killed Carlton, the big guys kick 4-5 which is to be expected but small forwards like Milne always double their output against the Blues.

Gibbs is in his prime, no way he could move very easily and would have to be a required player.
