Carlton Season 2012

Postby Turbo » Sun Aug 26, 2012 2:10 am

A roller coaster season that has probably ended for the best. Maybe snaring a finals chance in 8th wasn't going to amount to much.

Too many key injuries throughout the year, especially to key defenders and ironically to another in the first minute tonight.

Poor kicking in the end killed us as it has for most of the season.
It'll be interesting to see what the club has in store in the off season. Reckon ratten will be gone if not by this Monday almost a certainty to be the next one. Unfortunately coaches are scapegoats for poor performances.

The highlights of the year for me were beating collingwood twice and essendon last week by a huge amount. Love those arch rival games. Big crowds and great atmospheres that other clubs only dream about.

From here on in, go the crows!!!

To those fans giving Carlton crap on this thread all I have to say is get stuffed. About the only one who I have respect for giving me grief would be Jim for the huge rivalry our clubs have.

Levi Casaboult, promising young player, kicks 0.5, Jared Waite 2.4.

If the tall timber had converted better than 2.9 between them, close loss becomes a close win.

Seeing as they're only a game behind you maybe the smart thing to do would be to win !

Carlton will be back bigger and better next year !!! Making the eight would have sugar coated a bad year that has occurred for many reasons. Dick Pratt always said you don't go after the best available you go after the best and that's what Carlton have to do.

I will add that Murphy is massively over rated. Gets possessions but never hurts you like Judd. Surprising he hasn't learnt from Judd how to break lines and influence results.

Proves you don't watch too many Carlton games. Murphy usually does have an impact, last week for example. Actually watch some games and then make more accurate assessments. I would agree with you if you discussing Gibbs

I'm not limited to watching and rating players on seeing them once. Your 'opinion' we'll leave it at that

Only saw the last quarter of the game vs the Suns, but gotta feel for Ratten .. The number of times Carlton players executed skills poorly was huge, particularly handballs that were too low or too high. The players need to take a heap of the blame if (as expected) he gets the chop.

Malthouse was on Melbourne radio this morning saying he wants to coach again but only if he gets a gig next year.
Rumours hot at the moment that Malthouse will take over Carlton and Cloke will join him, Cloke is rumoured to be offered a 5 year deal worth $5m, Malthouse would be on $1m/year and they still have to pay out Ratten which is $550k.
Fair bit of coin to be tossing around

How could you fit that in the salary cap?

This is a serious question

Would find it hard to believe a million a year really. More like 750 over 5. That is still overs. He could get more elsewhere like fremantle but does he want to leave Melbourne? Or does he want to go to Melbourne of the Demons variety.
