Keating was a smarter and classier bully than Abbott will ever be.

How is it bullying to repeat their own words back to them?

If you don't think he has the characteristics of a school yard bully , then I suggest your mother never gave you lunch money as a child.

He doesn't look like a school yard bully to me.
All the school yard bullies I met had black eyes or other injuries...
(Nobody took my lunch money. ;) )

I hadn't thought about how much alike they are - it explains my not being a big fan of Abbott, despite my political affiliation with the Libs.
(And yes I do say I'm not a big Abbott fan at Lib functions when it comes up, and nobody gets snotty about my saying so because dissenting opinions are accepted in that party.)

I just came across this: http://au.finance.yahoo.com/news/stay-o ... ml?cmp=ftw

Is this guying playing politics with his conflicting statements, trying to please all those he may need favourable hearing from in future?
Or, has he been misquoted at one end or the other?
Marius Kloppers - newspapers wrote:Two days after mining giant BHP Billiton announced it was scrapping a $30 billion expansion plan in South Australia, its chief Marius Kloppers has warned European investors to stay away from Australia.
According to Fairfax reports, Kloppers told British media that new investments in Australia's coal sector would not be profitable given the country’s carbon and mining taxes.
Klopper’s statement comes after he reassured Australians that the taxes were not to blame for BHP axing the Olympic Dam expansion and just hours before a joint venture between Gina Rinehart's Hancock Coal and GVK won approval from the federal government.

Not the first time Liberal Party strategist Grahame Morris has been in hot water for sexist comments:

Prominent Liberal Party strategist Grahame Morris has apologised after describing ABC journalist Leigh Sales as a "cow" during a radio interview this morning.

The former chief of staff to John Howard made the remarks to 702 ABC Sydney in reference to the 7.30 presenter's tough interview with Tony Abbott last week.

"Were you surprised that he didn't handle that better?" 702 host Linda Motram asked.

"Well, Leigh can be a real cow sometimes when she's doing her interviews," Mr Morris said after a long pause.

Later on, Mr Morris spoke again to 702 to apologise, but described ABC listeners calling in to complain about his remarks as "poor little sensitive souls".

That's a good question, actually.
I'm not saying it is the case or his intent, but in that context an inanimate object, or event, (or even a bloke) could be called a "real cow".

I remember people having conversations in the 1950s and 1960s like:
"My ****** car has broken down again."
"That's a real cow!"

That now dated colloquial use may have its roots in one of these sources - no1. probably - which have nothing to do with gender:
1. 1595–1605; Old Norse kūga to oppress, cow; compare Danish kue to cow, (Linked to coward - one who is cowed by the oppressor or experience.)
2. Idiom: till/until the cows come home, for a long time; forever: "You can keep arguing till the cows come home, but I won't change my mind."

I reckon the Liberals are pissed off that Leigh Sales made Abbott look like a fool and that her interview on the 7:30 Report helped expose him as a liar:

In that interview on the Wednesday evening when asked if he'd read the BHP statements he said "No".

But the next day he said he had read the statements - on Wednesday afternoon before he went on the 7:30 report!

Of course they are Fish, Jimmy's not as dense as he tries to make himself look.

Psyber, when you were having those convos back in the 50's & 60's did it occur to you that Aboriginal people couldn't vote at that time? We've moved on a fair way since then.

Oh so you genuinely didn't actually understand why I put this in the Abbott Watch thread then?

You're not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed Jimmy but I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt.
