Duncanson just stated that he wanted to resign immediately but the Board wanted him to stay until the end of the year ...

Will the AFL force Geelong to give up Brian Cook to the Power to sort out this mess??? Seriously Port have gone down hill since their one Premiership.

The Primus situation reminds me a little of Clay Sampson @ South. Favourite son who did a reasonable job in "care taker" role, given the job full time, pretty weak playing lists (South's was woeful in 08/09) but also seemed to lack something with their coaching. Despite both being "good blokes" the poor results made the decision one that had to be made. Anyway back on topic..

Heard a bit of Duncanson on radio. Was awkward to listen to.

I have no proof, but watching KT in this news conference it seems that he has tapped Duncanson on the shoulder ...

Reckon the Hocking appointment would be because he's not considered a legitimate contender for the full-time role, whereas Rehn might be wanting to apply .. They would be desperate to avoid the last situation when Primus was promoted from interim to full-time contracted coach.

Very uncomfortable seeing Duncanson do it so tough, same with Primus on the weekend .. Got to respect their passion even if they were unable to achieve as they had hoped.

KT hit the nail on the head with one comment along the lines "The club is at a stage where it MUST get every single decision right from here on" .. They've made too many wrong calls in the last half dozen years and have exhausted their safety nets, got to make every post a winner now.

that would have achieved nothing. Duncanson does want to be there, he just doesn't think he is the right person for the job moving forward.

Agree with that and I couldn't understand why W.G. Tredrea said on radio that "Rehn won't be getting the job next year anyway" as it wouldn't be any stranger than appointing Primus two years ago as Rehn had more experience as a coach then than what Primus did.
Don't blame Primus personally, he just shouldn't have gotten the job in the first place although like everyone else I'm aware why it came to that.

Wasn't it Mark Williams or one of his cohorts who came up with
''We will be recruiting hard nut players in the mold of Francou/Wilson'' pre draft 09?

and got.

Reakon that's one of the few things the club has got right these past few years.

Club legend Brian Cunningham - and Bucky is right up there on a pedestal with Fos, Big Bob, Bob Quinn, Jack and Russ - left a huge leadership vacuum that hasn't been filled.

Now it seems the playing group has outshone the front office for incomprehensible incompetence.

"The Lost Boys" - the kids who showed great promise early but for whatever reasons just didn't kick on - play like millionaires for a pauper's reward.

Boak. Carlile. Chaplin. Motlop. Pearce. Pettigrew. Salopek. Surjan. Thomas. Westhoff.

That's off the top of my head - I'm sure there's more! - but chuck in draft picks and recruits who just aren't up to it and we've got one big ol' mess on our hands.

Hold grave fears for the PAFC. The AFL will always want two teams in Adelaide. But I can see them eventually stepping in and rebranding the club if things don't improve.

The move to Adelaide Oval might not be the saviour everyone expected.

It might just be death knell...
