As stated before, Amature League it certainly is.......

Just because he's never been reported doesn't mean he didn't do what he was charged with... and it's still the Amateur League that lays charges not clubs.

Im not doubting that, he pleaded guilty. So the league now lay's charges based on amature video footage supplied from a club, what role do the umpires play these days?

Probably the same as the AFL where they just rely on Match Review Panel - umpires these days generally give cards to save their wed night.

The AFL have 20+ camera's at any given game with profesionals who operate them. The match reveiw panel can then use this expert skill to police the game. I dont think they rely on some guy on a hill with a $ 200 camera he won on ebay.

Oh look the Leagues a joke & we all know it, they proved it once again.
Who was it that got the elbow & missed only 1 match from Uni with slight concussion?
Is his dad well known with all at headquarters?
To go in & plead guilty was a mistake, i would of taken a lawyer in there & demanded it to be thrown out.
Fitzroy F/C had a similar report thrown out by doing so i believe & that was against a college side.
To never have been reported in 200 games & get 7 games on his 1st offence is a bloody disgrace, god knows what he would of got if he'd broken the blokes jaw. :?

At the end of the day you will find that most penalties handed down from the amatuer league are very soft as they don't have video evidence to go buy which means they rely on what the umpire may or may not have seen.
If a club decides to video a game and catches an incident on video, good on them for sending it in. 7 weeks is a lot so what he did was obviously pretty serious. I am sure if the shoe was on the other foot you would be thinking differently.

It amazes me how neither umpire thought it was bad enough to report him, but it was worth 7 games??? When did the player go up to the tribunal? I noticed he played last week, which is rediculous.

We sit here and complain the umpires r too afraid to give up there wed night therefore a lack of incidents being reported... I see a club trying to make a change and protect its players. If you have nothing to hide let the games b taped.

Don't know the details but throwing an elbow to someone's head is worth 7 games on merit.

The taping would b used as a tool to review its games (players, strategies etc) not for the purpose of rubbing opposition players out. Think as time goes on this will become more and more common.

The bottom line is, regardless of the severity of the penalty, do the right thing and you got nothing to worry about. If you don't have the mental capacity and discipline to play fair then don't play.

Wellington for Collingwood got 5 games reduced to 3 because of good record, what did he do?? put a bloke out for 8 weeks ( broken jaw ).
Mills record didn't come into consideration at all, the bloke had mild concussion for f... sake not a broken jaw yet they hang :Hangman: the poor bloke.
3 more games & he can't play Amateur League again. Geez if i was Mills i wouldn't be playing against Uni again no doubt all players will be wearing HEADCAM!
What else do they film at the footy with those recorders?

Is that what the medical report said?

Can't compare afl & saafl.

Look I haven't seen the incident so can't make a judgement. I'm not on about the penalty, I'm defending the use of cameras @ games. But wearing my fair share of elbows I don't have much sympathy.....

You are absolutely correct Piccachu but I don't think they have a charge that would say something like "elbow to the head by a coward well after his opponent has gotten rid of the ball".

Didn't Uni's tape the first game against Portland and try and get someone rubbed out ? If so, it would of been common knowledge that they would film the game again. But yet a player still throws a stray elbow, maybe he got 2 weeks for the strike and 5 weeks for being a dumbass.

Find it funny that people's posts get deleted due to tha fact that what they said wasn't right and everyone is entitled to an opinion. Yet other people have an opinion and get threatened by the SAAFL that they will be fined for expressing them???? WTF talk about double standards! Public forum, freedom of speech and didn't realize we live in a communist state!!!
Dudley "Booger" Dawson: Did you get in her pants?
Gilbert Lowe: She's not that kind of a girl, Booger.
Dudley "Booger" Dawson: Why, does she have a penis?
