Tom Harley on Channel 7 says nothing it it but Wayne Carey on Triple M has crucified him

I almost thought it looked as though Johnson ran in to hit Thompson and came off second best. I am not sure how this will play out because from the angle I have seen it (and I have only seen one) Thompson looked as though he had his eyes on the ball and Johnson created the impact. I would hate to see him get games for that but the MRP has amazed me all season so he will probably get some. I think that Johnsons head hitting the ground would have caused more damage than the actual hit, but that is just my opinion.

The guy that pushed Thompson should get the games if anyone.

Yeah I'd be worried too. But then again, I can't recall us losing eight games in a row to anyone.

I was just doing my tips for this week, I looked at the Cats vs Hawks game. The Cats hold an 8-1 advantage over the last 5 years, I was a bit shocked , I cant recall us beating them, any of you Cats fans recall when that one win was?[/quote]

Reckon you might beat them this week though

You beat us in 2010. It was at the G, a ground you play well at and we went in top heavy and you ran the ball out of defence really well and Joseph cleaned up Ablett. While Geelong has continued it's good recent run against Carlton very few matches have been thrashings with Geelong normally coming on on top by a kick or two only.

Carlton kicked themselves out of it in the last quarter this year and the year before that Warnock missed that shot after the siren. Geelong normally have the goods against the Blues at EddieHead and that's where we are usually drawn to play each other.

Reckon Hartlett is unlucky, from the vision there's no real evidence that Rioli got hit, it only shows that both players were having a go at each other and or trying to hit each other. Going on both players version via a phone call.
The MRP shows their usual inconsistent out comes with tackles where a players arms are pinned and slammed into the ground with contact to the head. Liam Picken is the latest to benefit from the MRP's selective memeory disorder.

Selwood's is only a reprimand if he cops it - if he contests it and loses he gets a week off.

Seriously does the MRP have nothing better to do than look at this sort of thing. IMO they should be given a suspension for bringing the game into disrepute for this utter disgrace of a decision. Have a look at some of the push and shove that goes on in netball and see how far the AFL has descended and become a weak, gutless, spineless game of hands off.

Blokes like Ted Whitten and Jack Dyer would be ashamed to call the sport footy today based on how they went about the game compared with what is being trundled out these days. Fair dinkum AFL get your shite together now or risk losing a whole generation of fans!!!!

I love the headin on afl.com.au "Hardwick slams the MRP"

in regards to the sellwood case, all he said was "they are takin the piss arent they" while laughing as a joke

i wouldnt exactly call that slamming the MRP.

AFL Match Review Panel refer Selwood brother incident directly to parents

The Match Review Panel (MRP) last night took the extraordinary step of referring the misconduct charge against Geelong captain Joel Selwood for pushing his brother Adam directly to the pair’s parents.

In response to a hip and shoulder by Adam on Joel during Friday night’s fiery clash at Patersons Stadium, Joel pushed his older brother as he lay injured on the ground.

“What Joel did was completely inappropriate” said Mr and Mrs Selwood in a joint statement.

“We have a range of disciplinary options we are considering for Joel – including grounding him or subjecting him to a football tutorial from his older brother Troy.”

The MRP defended its decision to refer the matter directly to the brothers’ parents, claiming as the Selwoods were not the MRP, the decision was far more likely to be well-considered and consistent with precedent.

The Selwoods are not the first family to be involved in a football issue in recent times. Earlier this year, disgruntled dreamteam coaches sought an injunction against Mr and Mrs Morton to stop them re-producing AFL footballers.

what a joke. "if there was a neck injury or broken ribs it could have been potentially dangerous"??? shouldnt the bump have been looked at then as that would have been the action that caused the injury in the first place? (not that i think there was anything wrong with the bump either)

these guys are so out of touch with reality. "if it was any other player other than his brother you woulndt have any issue with it" Bullshit. if it was someone else i would still think the report was a joke.

ffs i am glad that the match review panel wont get to see the footage from my daughters third birthday on the weekend, she would get rubbed out for life for the way she was pushing the other kids when they were playing footy!!
