Rd 11 Live Scores

Talk on the national game

I was at etithad last night, Carlton really missing Murphy, carazzo, Scotland and suffered when warnock subbed out, I assume he was injured? Geelong star players really were the difference and did the important things to win the game. Umpiring was horrible, I thought Carlton got the better deal especially some dubious 50m penalties. Umpire steve mcburny is a joke......

Dubious? The rule clearly states as a opponent you cannot run between the man & the mark. Simply really. 2 brain farts by Geelong.

Yes I have to agree. Taylor Hunt is a real mixed bag. He does some fantastic things and then will do things that leave you shaking your head. When he ran over the mark the umpire had no choice but to pay the 50. Joel Corey's hands went up in the air - you could see him thinking 'wtf'.

The worst thing about the umpiring was the holding the ball intepretation. Corey was pinged in the first minute of the game. 'No genuine attempt' said the umpire. And so the tone was set for the entire match. Another poor one was when Gibbs put his head down and drove it into his opponent. 'Too high' said the umpire. Both calls evened out (I think Stokes did the same thing that Gibbs did and won a free also).

Why are the umpires throwing out the rule book just to keep the game moving? I thought there job was to umpire the contest not create a pretty game. Terrible stuff by the AFL at the moment. At least the umpiring didn't decide this game as both sides copped some real howlers.

regards,

REB

the 50m that was given away by Hunt in the rules is there.

My thought was that the player didnt have the ball to take the free kick, so Hunt wasnt getting involved in the play.

still it was a stupid act and as REB mentioned, he goes from choccies to boiled lollies in a split second.

I guess Hunt really needs to have better awareness

Why wasn't it consistent saw Carlton players doing it and Eddie betts constantly creeps over the mark, Carlton get a pretty good run, they have no reason to complain!

I was at the mcg, were ordinary today! Ross Lyon certainly applied a negative approach and in the rain we just couldn't put it altogether and we tried to play dry weather running game, well done freo. I like we have a port supporter bagging us, weren't you going to beat us about a month ago? Hows the finances at alberton??
