North Melbourne 2012

Talk on the national game

NORTH MELBOURNE chief executive Eugene Arocca has resigned after more than four years in the position. The resignation is effectively immediately but chairman James Brayshaw said there was no feud between Arocca and the club.

His sudden departure comes amid reports of a breakdown in his relationship with Brayshaw and senior members of the football department.

Brayshaw fronted a media conference at 1pm on Tuesday to confirm Arocca's resignation and to outline some reasons for his departure.

Brayshaw read a statement by Arocca, who wrote his position had become "untenable".

In the statement, Arocca said he was resigning due to matters "beyond my control".

Brayshaw said he met with Arocca at his house on Tuesday morning, who told him his position had become untenable.

"When your CEO says his position has become untenable you need to listen," Brayshaw said.

"There isn't a feud, there has never been a feud."

North's chief operating officer Cameron Vale will be Arocca's acting replacement.

Under the management of Arocca, who joined the Kangaroos from Collingwood where he had been in charge of that club's commercial operations, North Melbourne moved into a state-of-the-art training and administrative facility at its Arden Street home and eradicated some of the club's long-term debt.

He was also the architect of North's deal to play two home games each year from this season at Hobart's Blundstone Arena.

How much longer has Scott got?
With the midfield they have they should be on the up.
Getting belted to many times. Only gold coast has had more 10+ goal losses since 2010

Is there any way to set up so I don't need to see overloaded's post and waste my time reading them?

Thomas is down on form and confidence but unlike Collingwood and Travis Cloke we aren't in a position to carry players who aren't performing.

The fact you are comparing Thomas' output to that of Sellar's shows your knowledge of football.

Why do people think just cause a CEO leaves it is in crisis?

Euge was there for 5 years, a great innings for a CEO in any industry.

And also, look at what he's achieved. What else is there to add to his legacy?

I think the packaged deal might have been worth something like that but I can't remember.

Anyway a CEO lasting 5 years, thats about normal for a CEO's life span at a company.

I agree with you

In fairness though, would you agree you have used these types of incidents to make alarmist claims about our two local clubs over the years?
