I am very worried about Melbourne I love the club and have been a member for 10 years for the first time since 1997 I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. We are and will be at the bottom of the ladder for a long time the club is in a bad way not off field any more but footy wise we are 5 years behind the comp I hope I still have a club next year or beyond because this crap will only last so long before supporters and sponsor leave Mark neeld is not the problem the whole environment is at the club But I will still support and watch them hope they get a win soon

Tough spot to be in mate. The club is really giving you nothing at the moment. I know the boys are trying but really you need something to happen for them. Its been a pretty shit year for your club without a doubt. I jsut wonder if Gary Lyon you shut his mouth and get involved more.

I reckon you guys might be looking forward to the Gold Coast, Western Sydney and Port Adelaide for your first wins.

I agree the problem isn't Mark Neeld.
I think it's time they forgot about dropping senior players. It isn't working, just wait until they come good.
Colin Sylvia is a jet when up and about but behind the scenes, I don't reckon he's happy with the club.
Whether that comes with the captains debacle, which is a debacle, I don't know.
Nathan Jones and Brent Maloney tend to fly the Melbourne flag well.
Mitch Clark is handy but hasn't got much support.
Watts can't develop quickly enough.
Green is disillusioned too.
Colin Garland, Matthew Bate, Rohan Bail, Cale Morton, all need to be traded/delisted.
The midfield of Jamar, Jones, Maloney, Sylvia (Trengove at times) isn't too bad.
Jack Grimes is good. Howe is also handy.
Depth is where they're getting killed, because the fringe Demon players are terrible.
The club can't afford to keep playing mugs in place of the out of form stars who could potentially put half a dozen wins on the board.
Short-sighted? Perhaps. But let's be honest, the Demons look to be the worst hit by the expansion of the AFL with the rookies they have at the moment.
I pity their position.

You are on song onsong. Get some senior players in the team. They need syliva in the team at all costs at the moment. As you said there depth is an issue.

I reckon they need to make a statement at the end of the season, and trade or de-list several players, including some name players to send the message that a certain standard is required at the club.
It's a ******* disgrace to see all the smiley faces on members of the squad week after week of thumpings.
Melbourne has always been a "nice" club - They need to develop some ruthlessness and stop letting the players have such a soft ride.

Jamar inks new Dees deal

MELBOURNE ruckman Mark Jamar has re-signed with Melbourne for three years, the Demons securing the 2010 All Australian until 2015.

The 28-year-old was an unrestricted free agent and his name had been mentioned in connection with several AFL clubs.

However he has agreed to terms with the Demons, ending negotiations that began on the eve of the 2012 season.

"[It's] always good to know what your future holds and get something sorted out, so yeah, over the moon," Jamar said.

"[It was] not difficult in the end. [The] club put faith in me and I would like to repay them."

From sportsnewsfirst.com.au

STRUGGLING Melbourne veteran Brad Green is understood to be spending his bye weekend contemplating retirement.

The one-time Demons captain is believed to be battling mounting groin problems and weighing up whether to continue with constant rigours of heavy duty recovery and rehabilitation to extend his career.

He could even call an end to his playing days before the end of this season.

he's playing as a mid sized forward in a shizen team who's struggling to get the ball up there. No wonder he's contemplating retirement.

Yep plus add to the fact that they are also imploding as a club as well. All of a sudden retirement looks good :D

so why wouldnt they try something different with him? mix it up a bit. have him running offa wing or use his as the 'plus one' in defence. don't let him rot into retirement up forward, try something.

Breaking news: Clark to miss rest of season

THE MELBOURNE Football Club wishes to advise that Mitch Clark will miss the remainder of the 2012 season after injuring his foot against the GWS Giants.

Scans undertaken today have confirmed a ‘Lisfranc’ tear of the right foot. The injury occurred in a marking attempt during the second quarter of Sunday’s game at the MCG.

Melbourne Football Manager Josh Mahoney said: “This is incredibly unfortunate for Mitch and for everyone involved with the Club.”

“His leadership and influence on the group - on and off the field - has been outstanding since arriving at the Club.

“The club will now investigate the best course of action to repair and rehabilitate Mitch’s injury. We want to ensure he has a smooth return to football in 2013.

I seriously doubt that, his effort on the field this season has always been up to standard and the way the blokes get around him when he kicks a goal etc, you can tell there isnt an issue. If he had only kicked 10 goals for the year and not working his Ass off that may be the case.
