Just thought I would quickly say Congratulations to Matt Jolly who played his 150th A grade game a couple weeks back. I know he is one of FC's favourite players ;) so remiss of me to not notify her for a grass roots mention.

He has been a great servant to MFC since he left Norwood and came back to his local club without hesitation. He is a bloke who has never asked for a cent and volunteered valuable time while coaching Junior sides for many years. While not coaching a junior side this year I saw him running around with the U/14s last Wednesday night. He has also encouraged many other senior players to help coach junior sides and the boys love it and club prospers from it.

Well done to the Big Dog

Something tells me Portland might struggle the next 4-5 weeks for a win loss ratio of (3-5) or (3-6)

TTG very very good against Flinders Park yesterday. Even with Griffiths missing in the ruck ttg won easily and looking very good besides the slip up against Modbury.

I follow country football more than the metro but a keen observer of a few grades. I noticed on this link during the pre season that Port Districts were going to be the team to beat. Talk of gun players, too many points, lots of money, even possibly going undefeated. I have a mate playing at TTG and checked results and see Districts won 2, lost 3. What's happened? Injuries? Not playing well? Not playing as a team? Guns not firing? Or was all the preseason talk about them not quite right?

Old, slow, overpaid that probably answers your question. So next year if your thinking about retiring and have done something in your football career give them a buzz and I'm sure they will accommodate you. Just waiting for Matt Ashley to come back out of retirement again and slot straight back into that midfield it's about this time every year.

hahha 2-3 is where you club is at the moment isnt it mate. Maybe Matt Ashley is just what they need and could come in and nearly win the Div 2 medal off a few games like last year.

I'd still back them if it rained every week of the finals. Their midfield is like a bullock train going forward.

They do have a significant amount of injuries, but you can't really use that as an excuse for losing a game where you're up by 7-8 goals in the 2nd quarter.
Can't seem to play away from home, they seem a completely different team at home.

Great effort by Portland on the weekend, I didn't expect them to get over the top of PAOC, as they have some important players out atm. They do play the Thunderdome very well.

Yeah we don't see Portland using injuries as an excuse.
Well done to Portland i thought with all the injuries they have they'd be no chance of winning.
The players that got their opportunity made the most of it.

Thanks for that. I'm way past retirement so won't give them a call. I guess we will se how it pans out in the coming weeks.

3 goals kicked in the last 1min 30secs. Phil O'Laughlin kicked one to put them up by 6 points with 30 seconds to go. We got a quick kick out the centre and it landed on Ben Pahl's chest 55m out.... One of their blokes went off his nut (dont know why.....) and gave away 2x25m penalties(only thing the umps gave us all day  ) ... BP kicks the goal and the siren goes!
