Playing pedantic here, if he left the field of play to cop a slash during play he would have had to cross the boundary line rather than through the gates (which are closer to the toilets than the trees) - doesn't that then mean he's unavailable to return? And if it's good enough to be arrested for...

If i remember correctly a couple of years ago when 2 portland lads got done for 2 games each it was in the last quarter of the B grade whilst warming up over the other side of the ground

Seem to be a precious bunch over at Park 9!

Considering the high last year was kicking their first goal in the last game happy is an understatement. It is a nice diversion seeing them warm up at training as well.

In all seriousness they have a great group out there, they love getting around the club for functions, saturday night drinking sessions and just being a part of MFC in general, if any club is considering getting a Womens side in id recommend it and certainly wouldt be worried about losing your larikin feel, if anything they have added to ours!

I heard the CDWFC hung around your club after you knocked off TTG for a while too playing 8 ball and having a few bevvies. It's good hearing them chat after games about how they went and stuff like that, the standard of football far exceeds what I thought it would be like.

Ah I wouldn't read too much into it, Portland were just a good team out of luck.

we were smashed all over the ground saturday, pretty poor showing by us but take nothing away from Uni, they were fantastic, there leg speed all over the ground was amazing and there ability to spread and then hit targets was the best we have come up against so far this year, also the surface we played on, would have to be the best in the amatuer league imo

I'm not one for umpire bashing, because I think for the most part they do a great job, and without them we wouldn't be able to have a game. It can be a hard job for the club supplied umpires in the B grades who aren't completely impartial, but I think anyone who watched the Port District v Modbury B grade game on saturday would agree with me that Modbury's umpire made a number of dubious decisions, and was not umpiring in the spirit of the game.

I hate bashing umpires because not many people like to do the job, but you're right here lutz. Modbury's B grade umpire has been terrible for years. Him and the SPOC b grade umpire were on par with each other last year.
I will warn you also about the Eastern Park umpire. It is not so much that he is a bad umpire, but if you upset him in anyway his verbal attacks on players from opposition clubs can only be described as "disgraceful." I really think that the amatuer league needs to make records of these umpires who have been known to be completely bias towards their team and actually send an official out to watch a few of the games. Again we need as many umpires as we can get, but sometimes it can ruin games of football when umpires decide to take things into their own hands to try and help their club.

Surely if the Modbury B grade umpire was that bias we wouldn't have finished bottom last year. Plus to my knowledge he hasn't been doing it for years.
Everyone can winge about other clubs umpires, but they are watched and if they are that bad surley it is a matter of lodging a report with the league.

finn, I don't think the SAAFL will do that otherwise surely someone must have seen Rulebook, and Uni are quite happy to let him continue.
