Round 6 vs Richmond

Postby Booney » Fri May 04, 2012 4:21 pm

Richmond are typically our bitches, they have not improved for 5 or more years and I expect to account for this bunch of also-rans this Sunday.

Not often in recent times have I thought we are on a winner, but after they threw everything at the WCE last week they'll have nothing in the tank for this week.

Schulz is a loss with his excellent conversion rate and Wingard will be missed, not a bad thing though for the kid to have a week off.

Carn the Power!!

I reckon you are being a bit nice, they were disgraceful yesterday. We arent as talented as some sides, but i am really starting to question the effort. Not sure what is wrong with Cassisi at the moment, but he is giving us nothing.

The ball movement in that second quarter was embarrassing. It shouldnt take for us to be 6 goals down and the coach to have a crack at them for the players to respond, they are professional athletes and should rise to every challenge.

3 things frustrated me to the point of no return yesterday....

1) Wet weather footy = winning the contested ball and being FIRST to the ball.....the number of times richmond won free kicks simply by being first to the contest yesterday was astounding to say the least....

2) Maric......fugg me i was sick of seeing this bloke take mark after mark in our back 50 from us bombing it long. If supercoach allowed you to select a new side each week id be on the ruckman playing port every time! Especially missing schultz it was suicide going for the long option as wait 5 seconds and it was going back out again.

3) Skills. Skills skills skills.......i cant fathom how blokes can last long in the footy caper not being able to hit targets from 15 meters away......if i was that bad at my job i would have been out the door long ago..Richmond beat us convincingly yesterday at the stoppages by quick hands and precision kicking (our pressure was average to assist them mind you!), on the contrary we were fumbly, making mistakes with PERCIEVED pressure as well as actual pressure and were downright cringeworthy with footy in hand.....even one of our goals to butcher in the 3rd term was courtesy of a miskick from hartlett......

Embarrassed i was yesterday.......god help us when we play a top 4 side.

How can you expect a side to kick straight when the guy coaching them can't kick to save his life. If port don't wake up and realise they are going backwards with primus then we will never be anything more then a bottom 4 side

What does Primus' kicking skills have to do with the performance of port adelaide?

I am cursing the players inability to execute a gameplan before ill be calling for primus' head. When we dont see improvement in our playing group over a season or 2 then ill start questioning him...

In the telecast leading up to the game ( I had commitments and watched it on the box ) they showed Primus talking to the midfield about the penchant for Richmond to go backwards and then sideways out of a clearance. The footage was probably from Tuesday or Wednesday in the meeting room at Alberton.

Yesterday, **** me! Richmond went back and sideways time after ******* time with no pressure! The mide fielders cant say they didnt get told what Richmond were going to do, for **** sake, I'm at home 10 minutes before the game and I got told what they were going to do!!

Exactly my point Boon.....our complete inability to exectute a gameplan based around stopping effective ball movement from the opposition (our focus all pre-season ffs!!!!!).... As i mentioned in my previous post.....we got smashed in the clearances and around the ground stoppages and conversely when we didnt have the footy, richmond either pressured us into mistakes or we ****** it by ourselves......Now thats not primus' fault, he lays out the instructions, the players have to execute. Right now the players need to take a good hard look at themselves.

I'm cursing both. The players have no desire to work hard and have terrible skills, and Primus has a terrible game plan that has been proven over many years not to work.

In some ways thats a fair call PAFC....but do we really have the cattle to play a west coast / collingwood / geelong / hawthorn style of footy.....id say no. Simply our skills arent good enough to play a fast, attacking brand of footy.

If you want to refer to what the coach did poorly during his days to reflect on what the team he coaches does now, then sure, he couldn't kick. But he had balls the size of onions and bled and ( when injured ) cried for his guernsey and did everything in his power to make sure we won. You dont see the team today doing that now, do we?

Look at the shit clubs of the comp at the moment, Richmond ( yeah, they won yesterday but they have been shit for years, no impact on September for decades ) and Melbourne. They sack coaches at the first sign of trouble and look where that has got them. We need to be better than that.

That is true Booney but I don't think we should keep a poorly performing coach just to have consistency. I do t think Primus should be sacked, just at the end of the year the third year option on his contract should not be taken.

How do u expect to win clearances and stoppages when your ruckmen is tapping to the opposition. Redden should be back in the line up for starters, our midfield are playing out of position which is not allowing us to win the ball. It's got me why we keep pushing our forwards up the ground, it's ok to push the forwards up as long as someone sits back, there's no point in going forward if you just have a empty hole. Primus isn't a coach he has already proven he doesn't no what he is doing and the quicker he goes the quicker we can start to look forward

Hard for your ruckman to hit it to the opposition Kickinit when the taps reads 57-27 richmonds way.......we were smashed in the middle and around the ground yesterday.....

We have midfield strength and we have shown in games that we can win a stoppage count (Round 1 44-29, Round 2 41-33, Round 4 (lost 37-34 to collingwood) and were reasonably close against sydney and adelaide.

I would love to see maric's marks in richmonds back 50 yesterday, i can think of at least 5...

and where did our 27 taps go i'd say 20 went straight too them. Why didn't primus just make maric accountable, if he's in there loose then we have someone loose, you put a player in there which then makes maric have to pick them up not sit loose so he can take every ball that comes to him.

Maybe our 27 hitouts went exactly where they were supposed to go.. just our mids didn't get to the right spot! Just like they refused to run, create and chase all day...

The Maric thing was easy to fix. When kicking the ball forward, don't kick the ******* thing straight to him..
