Very good win by a young Portland side playing down Yorktown Rd, their transition to Div 2 i think has shocked alot including me.
Well done to the coach Ricky Steamboat & the assistant ;) providing him the info on the opposition.
Making a real name for himself down there is the Hose!! ;)

Should be a good game on Anzac Day

They are going to need someone good on Dodman - 200cm and is very agile.
The eventual rain stopped him taking more marks but he made himself a nuisance all over the ground.
PAOC won the game in the last quarter which was a good turn around from the previous week when Flinders Park ran over the top in the last quarter and we gave up a heap of goals to nearly lose it.

Got BOG on Saturday
Playing on the ball
Very slick player even in the wet
I was having trouble picking him out yesterday - the rain dulled the blonde hair :D

Two great games of footy up at EP on Saturday. The magoo's game was a nailbiter as was the A grade. I almost forgot how small the oval really was. A part form the middle with the sand, the oval was in pretty good condition. Around the stoppages it was fairly even until the 3rd quarter where wee managed to pile on a few clearances but we were inaccurate in front of the sticks. Same both ways really. I will say the officiating in both games was fairly ordinary. Thats putting it nicely. Both ways no one was really protected over the footy but in the magoo's it was basically one of the worst displays ive seen. Both umps started to invent things that werent there. There was no clear direction on any decision but again thats footy and you have to roll with the punches. The A grade game was not much better to be honest. Same thing goes. EP to their credit never gave up and came full tilt towards the end. Big shout out to the club for their hospitality after the game. Drink cards and sandwiches was an awesome idea and was very appreciative. Good culture by the looks of it now (onlu going by the last time i was out there in the 1's when we were in Div 4) the coach and the guy with the dreads were top blokes. Looking forward to the return bout at our ground. Good luck to them for this year they (EP) look like they can take it up to most sides when they are on.

A huge day at MFC on Saturday, packed house despite the weather. Modbury's A grade came back from about 4 goals down in the last quarter to gain a 2 point lead with only minutes to go.. Hoffy kicking a goal after the siren to blow it out to 8 points. A huge effort for a team missing there captain and last years div 2 medallist.

Good to see alot of the gully lads come up to the club for a beer after as well.

indeed sass, 4 games played in great spirit, cant remember 1 fight or real push and shove. Both clubs hard at ball.
What a massive effort from our lads in the As.... could have easily been a different story in the last quarter, but the boys dug deep and snuck over the line. Modbury Oval was buzzing!

Big Cheers too the Flinders Park Bar keep,
i think almost all our lads went in for a beer after the game and he put on 4 jugs for us!
which was very much appreciated.

also to Jimmy's comments good luck who is playing on Dodman he'd be well over 200cm imo and on a dry day will be unstoppable.

What position was Dodman playing? Sounds like Flinders Park have a fair bit of height, with O'hara, Dodman, Martinello, and Russell who I've heard has been playing down back.

He played FF in the first and second quarter but was on the ball in the 2nd half when it rained and he wasn't catching it as well.
We weren't tall this game so we were probably lucky it rained.
I note that Dalwood bloke slutted down the forward lines and kicked 2 again.

tallest crumbing forward going round! if only he could take a mark overhead he'd be a good player!

Portland v Flinders Park today at the Thunderdome. Grassroots action at its best. I hope all the players appreciate the enormity and priviledge to play on the most special day on the calender. Hopefully the day gets a game and crowd befitting it
