Carlton Season 2012

Arguably the greatest rivalry in the league. Usually the highest attended minor round games. Went to the Richard Pratt cup last year and it was a sensational day and deafening atmosphere. Won't be going this Friday but will be going to the return match in July which is also a Friday night game.
If we are going to win it should be now. Collingwood are looking a bit underdone. Will be a cracker. Especially looking forward to these two elite midfields going at it. Bring it on!!!!

Yes probably the greatest rivalry going around but nowhere near the highest crowds.
Collingwood v Essendon hold 10 of the top 20 highest crowds, last years Collingwood/Carlton match is the only match between the 2 sides to get over 88,000 and Collingwood/Carlton has only 1 entry in the top 20.Essendon v Carlton actually has a bigger crowd most years and in 2000 had over 91,500, Essendon/Carlton has 2 entries in the Top 20.

Reckon Fridays may beat that. Are you able to link the attendance records?

It'll be interesting to compare Carlton v collingwood attendance this year with the essendon v collingwood matches. Even though the latter have a specialized Anzac day game where numbers in recent years seem to be below 90,000 I reckon more will go to Carlton v collingwood this year

I will post that link when I find it Turbo.
If you take ANZAC day matches out of the equation Carlton v Essendon are usually the biggest crowd pullers.
I know many Essendon supporters rate Carlton as their biggest rivals due to the fact we have faced them in more GF's than we have Collingwood.

Cheers Jim. From my experience essendon v Carlton has probably more dislike involved due to the closeness of the 2 teams in recent years involving finals too. Whereas Carlton and collingwood haven't met in the finals for ages and not as prominently as the colliwobble years

Yes a lot of the old time Bomber supporters still despise Carlton, i think its due to the fact we have played more finals and GF's against you than we have Collingwood.
Seems strange but i reckon heaps of us will be barracking for Collingwood on Friday ;)
