I guess if Ben Cousins had chopped up his cousin with a machete he would be in gaol and 60-minutes would have bagged him, the press would have had a field day taking the piss and his club would have sacked him. I doubt he would be at training

Good article?

I don't see how what he wrote is anything different to what he is complaining about. I found this article to be rather racist itself.

Good article? Consider these two points :

From the answers provided in many of these articles from so-called representatives, the question has to be asked whether we have suitable people representing Aboriginal players and their interests as there seemingly is no awareness of the complexities and dynamics of culture.I do not see the fierce defence and sound understanding anywhere.

As for Liam and why we are talking today, although I do know the issues intimately,
it is not culturally appropriate for me to discuss the detail

So which one is it, Che? Do you want the wider community to understand the complexity of culture or not? Without some explanation it might be hard to understand......

I see good ol' Che pretty much says police aren't respected in their communities, and if they wanna hurt someone, its only a matter of time...good role model and represenatative...

Also, I find it racist of him to say that Aboriginal players have worked harder than white players to get to play AFL.

Im white, Im offended, which automatically makes it racist. Why should us whities miss out on all the fun. Might see if the 'Tiser will let me dribble shit in a long winded article that really doesn't mean anything to anybody...

Yep, us white folk got it real tough. The decades of genocide and oppression at the hands of indigenous people still lingers in our memory...

I find it racist that the AFL have a person specifically charged with indigenous player welfare.

Have I done anything? No.

Im sorry that people I have absolutely no knowledge of or connection to did those horrible things.

I dont agree that what happened back then was right, and I do feel bad for the victims, but we're talking about pathways to the AFL here. I dont even think Che brought the Stolen Generation into the discussion...

I agree. Surely someone would take them aside for group meetings at their respective clubs...which is apparently racist according to Melbourne FC, the AFL, Grant Thomas and that dickbag Mifsud...

I think they should divide "racism" into a few separate categories.

The categories will be determined by the degree of seriousness and hate behind the act of "racism".

For example:

Category 1 Racism: An act by a person or group affecting another group or person of a different race, driven by hatred of that person/group's race.

Category 2 Racism: An act by a person or group affecting another group or person of a different race, driven by a conception that person/group's race needs to be treated differently to others for what ever circumstance.

Category 3 Racism: An act by a person or group affecting another group or person of a different race, not driven by any particular hatred or conception, it just happened that way.

I think this needs to happen, because treating someone differently for perceived benefit to them should not be tagged as "racist" along with acts of hatred against the a person because of their race.

Always remember a soccer match where an Egyptian player accused the ref of being biased because his national team were moslems.
One problem - the ref came out and said he was too

Lot of points being missed here, but that's nothing new.

I can understand why some are upset about indigenous footballers getting their own welfare officer. I mean has anyone given any thought to the hard done by white kid that has come from the private school system. They are obviously the ones who need looking after.

Exactly.

Surely that little box on Centrelink forms are racist as hell. You know the one..."are you Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander"

That is obviously to help indeginous Australians, and thats good.

Offer them a scholarship = bad? Why?

Also, think about this...if Barry Hall, while still on an AFL list, machetted someone because of issues within his family, do you still think he would be training? I dont. Which is fine...

But because Jurrah is Aboriginal, he is treated differently...which I believe makes the fact Barry Hall is white a disadvantage...racist..

So every white kid has an awesome upbringing, with lots of money, everything he wants handed to him on a platter. Not a care in the world. What a load of shit. Saying that is racism. You are generalising people solely on the colour of their skin...

People should be judged individually, not because of their skin colour...

Whos playing the victim, and how did you come to that conclusion?

Im trying to say everyone is equal and should be treated the same. Others are trying to say we should treat Aboriginal people differently because they're Aboriginal. Which is racist, isnt it?
