Your complaining about the game tonight, which you still watched, when traditionally there is no game on this weekend. Next week it will be business as usual.

They give away footys at Swans, Suns and Lions games also. What is your point?

u have to ask? LOL

Well it is an AFL game. Should they be giving rugby balls to kids? What do they give kids at Crow games
, seeing as though it is AFL territory?

losers normally p!ss off though. i understand why they did it. but its not the footy way.

Like I said, nothing has changed. Business as usual. You do understand that the first GWS game was always going to be televised on free to air.

This is the most negative thread on this site. A discussion? More like an out and out whinge. Compare GWS tonight with what the Gold Coast served up against Carlton last year and the Giants come out in front. Compare tonight's game with the nothing we normally get between the NAB and the season opener and the Giants come out in front again. Compare tonight's game with what Richmond has served up against Carlton in recent season openers and I reckon the Giants break about even on that one.

Watching Chad Cornes tonight I have to say I'm a bit surprised that Port didn't give him a bit more of a go last year. He still seems to be very fit and has a bit to offer. Giles looks the goods and once Hampton reaslises that he has the pace to give him time the kid could be anything. Mohr also looked servicable down back and Townsend and Buggy looked ok as well. The big problem for the Giants is where are the goals going to come from and it will be a worry for them all year. I don't think they can win a game unless they can knock off the Gold Coast.

The funniest thing I saw..well heard tonight was not GWS players giving out footies at a home game but Matty Richardson saying that the Swans were a top four side. They'll need to find plenty to make the eight on what I saw tonight.

So tissues away Princesses...the footy's back on.

Looking at the remainder of games in round 1, there's not many blockbusters, although obviously the Hawthorn v Collingwood game will be a big one.

Thu 29 Mar
Richmond Carlton MCG NIGHT

Fri 30 Mar
Hawthorn Collingwood MCG NIGHT

Sat 31 Mar
Melbourne Brisbane MCG EARLY AFTERNOON
Gold Coast Adelaide Metricon Stadium MID AFTERNOON
Fremantle Geelong Patersons Stadium EVENING
North Melbourne Essendon Etihad Stadium EVENING

Sun 01 Apr
Western Bulldogs West Coast Etihad Stadium EARLY AFTERNOON
Port Adelaide St Kilda AAMI Stadium LATE AFTERNOON

My selections would be:
Carlton - 12 points;
Hawthorn - 21 points
Brisbane - 7 points
Adelaide - 41 points
Geelong - 9 points
North Melbourne - 19 points
West Coast - 14 points
St Kilda - 19 points

I'd think GWS through Sheedy and Williams ( who did it regularly at Port ) will be willing to play numbers behind the ball to limit the damage on the scoreboard. McKenna, at the Suns, made it very clear before the season 2011 started that he would not be doing that as it does little to help the kids learn to play the style of play required to succeed at the top, fast flowing high scoring football.

Some people will be seduced by GWS this year as they limit the damage, but having said that, they did look to be reasonable on Saturday night. Big first game and the boys would have been fired up, lets see how they fire up when they are 0-14.

One bonus, footy is back. :D

I've taken the $2 that Sportsbet offered before Round 1 that GWS will win a game, any game.
