As I understand it he said "If things keep going the way they are now, clubs will not look at Aboriginal players that dont have one white parent".

I think he was trying to start a conversation on how to improve things, so it doesnt come to that. What he said after that could have been "give these guys more support, send some AFL money to remote communities, send people and resources that way to help with the intergration of the Aboriginal people that still live in third world conditions in the middle of Australia".

We dont know what was said. I listened to Trigg live, and it sounded like he just wanted to cut all ties to it. He hung Matt Rendall out to dry. If people cant throw ideas and possible consiquences of how things are going, and how things can be improved, nothings going to improve.

I look forward to hearing what Matt Rendall has to say tonight.

I knew Rucci had sound and rational journalistic skills, just never sure I'd see them again.
Good article.

It was interesting to hear Darryl White on SEN this afternoon talking about Matt Rendell and the positive influence he had on his career.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The AFL has just killed off one of their best recruiters and developers of future talent but I'm glad that Rendell could get his side of the story across honestly. Meanwhile an assassin lounges back in his chair, propped up by the sycophants that he surrounds himself with for protection.
Grant Thomas is the only one who is willing to hold his ground against the AFL heads, the rest of those stooges just thought of themselves. I hope some journo out there has the guts to follow up on this disgrace and show the people responsible for what they really are.
Well done Matt, best of luck.

Yeah that was a great interview I mean not great but you know what I mean Rendell's passion for his job was obvious.

Thought it was pretty low of Garry Lyon to try and set him up with that gotcha towards the end though.

What that interview said to me was it's a different time and place. What Rendell said could've been said with the absolute best intentions or whatever but the AFL is a different world now a billion dollar organisation that needs to be seen to be stomping on anything even vaguely racist in nature. Rendell is old school and his comments said 20-25 years ago no one would bat an eyelid but in modern day AFL world they just can't be said regardless if they had any validity or not.

Agree Gozu but others have done and said worse and nothing like this has happened. Two sets of rules.

if what he said was it, then sure, sack him, but it was an *off the cuff* remark and believed that he could help the situation.in which i think he is right!

Demetriou and Trigg have blood on their hands. Jason Mifsud needs to tell his side of the story.
Caroline Wilson is the most sour and vindictive journalist around.
That is pretty damming with the likes of Smith, Rucci, Rebecca Wilson etc.
The AFL needs people like Rendell not people who say what others want to hear.
Trigg you are an absolute puppet.

I feel sorry for Rendell on this if the context of the comment is as he said it.

There are double standards on other issues as that last quoted article suggests.

Doesnt get mentioned as much but how would Andrew Lovett feel after the Jarrah incident?

Lovett was found not guilty yet was kicked out of his club and the AFL and career over. Jarrah, who one could argue has been charged with something much worse, is free to train and play with his club until the court case where he may well be found guilty.

Where is the consistency from the AFL?

Agree with this. Just on Wilson, did she listen to anything Rendell had to say? Nothing but a sh*t stirring Idiot. Lyon also made to look silly at times.

Thomas, although his intentions were good in the first segment, perhaps should have shut up and let Rendell tell the whole story first.

Will we find out Mifsud's version of events? Or the mysterious 3rd person in the room?

Is AD (and cronies AA etc)one of the most loathed men in Australia? Probably.
